I was just wondering if there's any kind of smog equipment in my 96 GMC I could get rid of to gain some power/gas mileage. It has a vortec 305 if that matters.
Thanks
that would be no. everything on your truck is pretty Required. besides, you'd be gaining nothing by taking stuff off. '96 up trucks are born and breed to survive on the OBDII, and if any sensors go arry, the truck tends to run poopy
you can...but i should tell you federal law requires a cat. not to mention your O2 sensors before and after the cat....the ones after would trigger a check engine code. you could have air/fuel mixture issues afterwards.
if you're trying to get "better" flow by ditching the cat, get a hi flow cat put on instead. summit racing has em for $60.
