what is the tale-tale of white smoke from the exhaust.......also, strong exhaust odors since swapping out carbs..help, but please be gentle. my wife thinks i spend too much money on my blazer as it is.
White smoke generally means that coolant is getting burnt in the cylinders- the prime suspect would be blown head gaskets. This can also be coupled with an increase in operating temp.
And an "odor change" from a different carb- do you mean it's running richer? Give us a better explanation of the odor change.
The white smoke could be water, or if it started after swapping the carb, and you smell gas, it could be running too rich.
Did you get a new carb? rebuilt an old one? Install it yourself? anyone tune it?
If the white smoke was there before, does it only happen on start up? Or do you see it while your driving around?
Put out a little more info and we might be able to help you out some more.
If you look close, I bet you'll find out that puff at startup is actually a light blue, not white. Every Chev I've owned has been a member of the "puff-o-blue" club.............
