Smokey The Crew Cab---- 90 V3500 6.5 Banks equipped(Cummins Swap in progress)

Very nice man always thought a big crew would make an awesome rig up there

Thanks I think this will be the route to go for us with another kid on the way I have a pretty well thought out build plan going and I have almost all the stuff to do it plan is to build the new rolling chassis with new engine and trans and then swap the cab on . That way I can still get use the truck in its current state until then.

Bed is getting ditched for this utility bed

That's gonna be awesome, didn't know you and Patty were expecting that's awesome!

Ever thought about axletechs? It's what all the cool kids are using these days lol

congrats Gus!

looks like seriousness is bout to happen w/ the truck.

I have thought about axle techs , but brakes are the main problem , that combined with having to run at least a 20" wheel turn me off to them . Oh and they are not all the same ratio so finding matched sets can be troublesome.

Another pic of the bed , I have some plans to mod this for better departure angle.

Yeah it's hard to explain the vision I have in my head , but it should fit my needs perfectly . The ladder rack is staying and will hold extra cargo and rooftop tent all my tools and spares and recovery gear will fit in the side boxes with room to spare . Which will leave the bed free for coolers, firewood, whatever is needed .

Hoping this will keep the cab space free for kid stuff and us to ride comfortably

what's the improved approach angle involve?

Basically the I will boat side the lower boxes and mount the bed about 2" higher then stock , the rear most boxes will get a taper put in them to match the skid plate angle of the 40 gallon burb tank skid plate . The burb tank will get pushed up as high in the frame as possible. It's hard to explain later, if I get some time I will draw it up and post pics

This is assuming I don't just ditch the burb tank idea and build a bigger tank .

that was what I figured you where going to say.. anxious to see it.. :D

I have done tons of thinking on this part Gus. Using a stock tank is a great idea but if you build a tank I bet you could 15 more gallons of capacity without taking up any use able space.

That's exactly my thinking, I need lots of fuel the diesel will easily double my mileage compare to the same rig with a stock bigblock , but that being said Um planning 7-10 day trips. Ideally I want to see about a 50-60 gallon main tank and then mounts for 6 military jerry cans . I also have a 80 gallon slip tank I can mount in the cargo area but I'm really trying to avoid that at the moment.

When I get around to my crew cab I am gonna cut the frame at the cab and build my own frame. Not very hard to do and might be able to accommodate a larger tank.

Hell half the reason I am building the crew cab is to come back up and wheel with you guys. It will have room for big tires:D

If we get the place we just put an offer in on I will have plenty of room to store stuff. So if ya find a screaming deal on a gooseneck I could keep it for ya till later.

You still need to come down here and we will hit some rocks up
