Ok I started loosing engine speed and I was pressing on the gas and nothing was happening. I would floor it and it would barely go but I could feel the tranny shifting but I could'nt get enough speed to get it going. So I get the car home and I smell smoke. Its coming from the console were the ebrake is between the two front seats. YIKES what has happened. I have the 2.2 liter 4 banger and auto tranny. O yeah its a 1994 Berreta. Anyone have any ideas

Sounds like the catalytic converter got clogged really hot. If you look underneath the car I would bet the cat is there. it will rob the power from the motor..won't let it breathe

I agree, sounds like the catalytic converter. I had a Beretta myself. One of my friends had a 91 with a 3.1. We couldn't get it started once. After dinking with it for 2 days, we cut the catalytic converter off and it fired right up. We just put a piece of patch pipe in and was done with it.
