Yeah that's usually not good. Looks like burning coolant. Head gasket or cracked head more than likely.

or if not run in long time or water got in exaust pipe then its burning off moisture.
just had same thing happen at work on bosses blazer we spent 3.5hrs pressure washing all the mud off from spring playday he didnt wash off.
when we were done it smoked bad and then after running for a bit and let cool down its all good.

It smells like coolant or oil, not sure which but more than normal exhaust. I've been debating keeping her but I knew its due for major work.

Thats exactly what my engine was doing,..it had the coolant sweet smell and white smoke,..I just brought mine in and I'm having a different motor put in('88 5.7) and just waiting for it to get done. Good luck with your ride,..
