Snap-on

The Snap-On slim wrenches are what it takes to work on some applications and I would not trade mine for any other. It's all about using the right tool for the job.
There are many brands of tools in my boxes and I prefer my Snap-On sockets & wrenches over all other brands.
Back when I was buying off of the Snap-On truck our sales guy had great deals and programs for the professional workers.
I have replaced SEVERAL craftsman ratchets , sockets and wrenches over the years but very few Snap-On & Mac tools that fit the same description.

its funny listening to the Snap On bashing...

anyone here who thinks ANY other brand compares in handtools is kidding themselves, very inexperienced in wrenching for a living or has ulterior motives... IF you discount cost, no other tool comes close.. big if obviously, but i've also noticed how much Craftsmen prices have jumped in recent years...

my combo wrenchs are 20 yrs old and kill any Craftsman... if your hands are hurting, don't be such a mary... sheesh... mine have never bothered me in the slightest..

sockets and ratchets? they excell even more with those... Snappy flank drive sockets will get stuff off that Craftsman will just spin on... let alone the strength dif... i've got Snappy ratchets that are 20 yrs old, never been rebuilt and work sweet.. AND they get dropped in slimey, wet bildges everyday...

there are items you can get just as good from other companies, such as the Fluke mentioned.. but for hard hand tools, they can't be touched.. go use another brand prybar, bushing driver, drift, etc and watch them bend...

the only quality issue i've ever had with Snappy is when they started ditching the hard handles in favor of soft handle stuff... i think alot of guys where bitchin cuz they've brought some hardhandle stuff back periodically.. i had all my stuff already but if i see something new come out that i'm into with soft handle, i bitch...

and if you guys are having warranty issues, you should be bitchin.. my guy doesn't bat an eye on warranty stuff on the rare occasion i need it..

:waytogo:, yeah, what he said!

My dad has Craftsman stuff from the '60s. They are just about equal to Snap-On, but when it does break the replacement is of greatly less quality. You can really see it in the sockets, the old ones are a nice forging where as the new ones look like cheap cast white metal. We have to be somewhat careful with his ratchets because if we were to strip out the gears they would just replace the whole thing with a cheap new unit rather than rebuild the head.

Now screwdrivers are snappy all the way. About 15yrs ago I paid $80 for a 8 peice set, and would do it again in a heartbeat. I was given a Craftsman set for christmas once and proceeded to bend the tips on several new screwdrivers trying to remove a simple snap ring  , they are just too soft. Same with Craftsman chisels/punches.
