got my cab on and cable hooked up to a bracket i made . when sniper @ zero / idle its fine .

problem is full throttle on sniper wont even touch the th400 kickdown switch on the gas pedal in the cab under the dash . and not even with a chunk of 3/8 rubber hose on it to try and help .

anyone got a idea ?

I don't even remember what I ended up for a throttle cable. It's a factory application. I tried 3 different factory GM truck cables and really didn't like any of them. If I felt inclined to spend the money, I'd probably consider Lokar. But what I have works so I don't worry about it.

I do know mine doesn't go full 100% open. I think it's around 90%.

I like to use the 88-95 tbi truck cables as they are easy to make the correct length.

As I type this I wonder if it's a geometry thing where the pedal doesn't move far enough or if the cable is too short and holding the pedal up too high??

will see what we find Saturday . my buddy plans on stoping up so we can hammer this thing out and fire it off .

if its all o.k. other wise i will just modify the bracket and move the switch up closer .

i used my brake/throttle rod and held the pedel to the floor and checked and had 100% 90* throttle blades in the sniper unit . but it was not close to touching the kickdown switch .

so i made a 7/8" tall hole to hole spacer bracket . had to rework my in cab metal arm the cable clips in to a bit for more pull and also had to use a 3/8" fuel line hose and then 5/8" heater hose on top to get the th400 switch to kick off .

who ever made this linkage at holley was a total frig-in moron .

well to day i have 25-30 road miles on it in town and city stop / go / parked off and so on .

well i can tell you from playing with the throttle blades by hand and this pedal the way it feels it SUCKS A$$ . there is a real hard spot at the base / take off / tip in point and makes it like your drag racing all over town . you cant take off from a stop with out having to gun it basically .

and yes my cable is straight from bracket to stud on sniper and i even used a better condition cable i had and even lubed it with some nice thin oil and you can almost blow on it if its on the bench and it will slide in the housing . i even oiled the pivot point under the dash were it rides in the bracket on the fire wall . and as i sit here typing his out my leg is getting back to normal from how i have had to play with this dam pedal .

You need to post some pics but it sounds like you need more leverage at the throttle body.

Do you need the return spring? I know with fitech that’s a common problem as they have a lot, arguably too much spring pressure built in.

yep needs it . guys on holley forum try and not run 1 but wind up having to run 1 on most of them . and i tried at first with not good results so i added it . its NOT super stiff tho .
