just got done installing a western uni mount truck side frame on the boss's k5 blazer at work today . the old plow truck was shot and needed to much work to keep going . pic 1-2

and yes those are boggers on his blazer. not sure if he is going to run them yet . and anyone spot the incorrect installed gm parts on this blazer ? ?

when done checking this blazer over and getting ready i need to install my headgear and remove the push bar on my truck and hitch the plow up and be ready. pic 3-4

i run a 8ft or 9ft what even i need for snow style old fisher speedcaster live hydro plow .

At work were converting 80 single axle dump trucks to salt spreaders, like we do every fall. Guess what we get to do in the spring?

I changed the oil and filter in my 1971 CJ5. I extracted the vent plugs in the rear axle and front differential. I couldn't find any vent caps in town so I ordered 2 from Summit Racing along with a 16" electric fan and an overflow bottle for the radiator. I bought a replacement pipe for the yard guard on my plow.

My plow truck has been called into daily driver status lately, but I dont go far with it,only 10 or so miles a day...its got plently of things "wrong" with it that should be fixed before snow flies ,but I haven't had any money or the ability to fix anything on it really...been fudging things instead of repairing them,I keep topping off the leaky master cylinder instead of replacing it,and the rotted oil pan is still losing a quart a week at least, the fuel injector lines look ready to pop any day too,so do both oil cooler lines...I did install a gas tank a few weeks ago,but have yet to swap the lines off the other tank to it and get the gas gauge on that side working,I need to replace all the metal fuel line from the tank to the filter on the firewall too.....................................................................................................My plow is in sad shape,it has rotted away all along the cutting edge, and on top ,it was mint a few years ago when I got it...I might try patching it up,but most likely I'll just use it as-is,I often see blades in nice condition being scrapped and I wont waste my time and money welding up a peice of crap, when I might be able to swap my rotted one for a good one --I also have a Diamond plow in nice shape on my Suburban, but its got a different spread on the a-frame ,so it wont fit my pickup unless I modify the plow push frame...(22" on my truck VS 25" on my Suburban)...the Burb has a sick 700R4 that probably wont last long,so I need a tranny to put in it before I can trust it ..it loses reverse and wont go in OD ,so I hesitate to use it plowing,my luck it wouldn't want to back up after pushing snow and I'd be boned...................................................................................................Since I am broke and my mom sounds like shes got one foot in her grave,I'm probably just going to keep nursing the 2 trucks along, rather than blow a lot of money and effort on fixing them up--after shes gone I most likely will have to find another place to live, and if I have my way,it wont be anywhere it snows,or your trucks rot away to s*** in 5 years...I'll probably sell them for parts or scrap them...wont need them or a plow, where I hope to be living...

I need to get mine installd on the crew cab. I never put it onlast year, pretty sure I`m going to need it this year. We never get 2 easy winters in a row.

Cool thread bump . .

Add some ballast weight 600 - 800 lbs secured to thexbed and have fun .

I have learned a lot since this post and even a new truck my self from this post .

Yeah, with a normal bed, the ballast is "self-adding" in the winter, as long as you park outside.

We put two rather large dump truck front spare tires on the bed. Both of them on real heavy steel wheels. Probably about 500-600 lbs or so of ballast. It worked pretty good. Broke through a 2 ft mound of snow from the plow pushing snow off the highway and then plowed about a foot of virgin snow in to get to the bottom of a dam for some of our guys at work.

Wouldn’t they have to sue the plaza and not the guy that plows the lot? Course I guess the plaza then sues that guy…it’s way to easy to sue and win anymore
