Up here in oregon we boast the 2nd highest unemployment in the nation, our housing market is in the toilet, as are the trades (remodel contractor), there are TONS of rigs on craigs list, yet still...guys are asking $1200-1500 for front 60s?!?!

Ok, rant over. sheesh!

I saw one for 1500 down here in lower Al. And I even saw a guy wanting 500 for some ten bolts!!!

What they are asking, what they are getting, and what they are taking are 3 seperate things. I've seen them go for $600 around here. I have also seen some go for $1200 recently. If they're asking $1200, and you show up with $900 cash...chances are it'll be yours.

If you had a dana 60 for sale what would you ask for it??

Depends on the condition of it. If it were freshly rebuilt with popular gears (4.56, 4.10, 4.88) it would be worth more. If it's a stocker with 4.10's, then I'd put it up for $800. That isn't too high, so I wouldn't expect to get haggeled down allot.

Wow, around here I've seen pair of D60 and 14FF for $700 both of em...

Friend of mine regularly buys truck parts when he finds them cheap and then immediately resells the stuff for profit. He's had to decrease the selling price of front D60's by several hundred $$ to get them unloaded in a reasonable time as compared to a couple of years ago. On his last round of D60's he had a bunch of popular '78-'79 high pinion Fords, and even one with a Detroit locker only went for around $850 or so.

I bought a DRW D60 for $500 a few years ago, from a guy out your direction. It was right before Christmas, maybe he needed the cash?
I too, have noticed the prices have not changed any recently. It doesn't seem like anybody is too desperate to sell off their parts for a bargain, even though they are broke and out of work.

IM swimming in Dana 60 fronts...

Its gettin harder to sell them.
But its gettin easier to buy'em
Just bought 2 GM DRW 60s one with 4.10s and the other with 4.56s for $600:eek1:

allright sell me one of those then!!

its really hard here to find a chevy 60, and sometimes youll get a dodge.
its more common to see a complete beat to chit/blowed up k30 and buy that. ive seen two within a year and bought them both.

Around the central valley most have no idea these things are so popular.
Picked one up from a guy who wanted to convert his 4x4CC dually to 2wd and SLAM it. I said hhmmm, 100?
Weelll OK.
The other I found was a single cab K30 dually BUT with SRW axles. No idea how that happened and the guy was glad to get it off his property for cheap.

Got mine in Sacramento of all places for 600 then sold a bunch of crap that came with it and made the deal even sweeter. The trick is to find the truck not the axle. Chances are if the guy is listing a dana 60 front, it's not going to be a good deal. Like mentioned above, you have to find somebody that have no clue of the value of the axle. At a time when people are selling stuff left and right it should be just a matter of how good you are at finding stuff.

I'm seeing a lot of 4x4 and offroad stuff on Craigslist and the like. Seems like a lot of folks are getting out of their hobbies or projects and hoping to make some cash off of them...

...meanwhile they're still hoping to make top dollar. Also remember to include the "well, my uncle's neighbor's boss's buddy who was a mechanic 20 years ago said it was worth a lot of money so I'm asking $1800 for a SM465 bolted to a NP205" crowd.

However a lot of it sits so I'm betting more people are willing to deal. I always put a higher price on my stuff unless I just want it gone. However with the higher priced stuff I always stress that it's Or Best Offer and am willing to deal. 75% of what I was asking sitting in my hand as cash beats having something I don't need taking up space.

they are still pricey here... My buddy just sold a stock drw with 410s two weekends ago for a grand.

Well there are 2 kinds of people:
People that have no brains and will sell what they have for a few bucks because they need the money, and end up with nothing after a few days.
And you have the smart ones that know they need money not getting rid of what they have and they will hold off for their asking price.
Lately of the good deals are gone because those people don't have anything left and now the smart people are holding on to what they have to get top dollar for it.
I never sold a part for less than what the going rate was, and sometimes even more because all my parts were in great condition.
I have no more D60's but if I had them I wouldn't drop my price because I had no money, that's how you end up with no money

That is because everyone in Oregon is smoking dope seriously. We have a bunch of crack heads and tweakers in this state. I've shopped craigslist here also and wondered what the hell any of these people were thinking. Income must be comming from somewhere cause the high prices just aren't for axles. I've looked for used winches and found most were selling used for what I can find one new for. For example I found someone selling a broken down blazer for $700 it had a winch and bumper but didn't have the keys to start the truck. I didn't want the entire truck so I asked how much for just the bumper and winch. The guy said he already had an offer for $450 for the winch and bumper. Lol at those prices I would have parted the thing out to begin with. $400 I can pick up a brand new winch and bumpers go for fairly cheap. And used tires are going for only slightly under what a new set cost that also come with a warranty. This is why I will rarely mess with used crap I just buy new then I dont have to deal with the tweakers.

Im in MI and the prices are high on craigslist and ebay, but going to the right spots, ie wrecking yards you can pick em up for under 200 bucks easy :thumb:
