So are 6.2 heads ever NOT cracked?

I was hoping to use the 6.2 heads off my clanking '86 Banks, but keep hearing about cracked this and that. They're headed to a 6.5 being donated to me, and to be re-built, (the heads were real bad), and mine ran OK 'till it snapped something...
Thoughts? The friendly machine shop said New blanks are $300 each, but I'm not that rich...

Heads cracked are not that common, you still want to check any head you want to reuse but I wouldn't say it will be cracked.
On a side note, if you end up needing heads :D
 
FWIW, I had my heads checked at the machine shop ('91 6.2) and the dude said one had a hairline crack in it but passed the pressure test so should be fine to run. I plan on going for it because I can't and don't want to afford new ones. I guess I'll just smack myself when something grenades:doah:
