So today pretty much was like icing on a week that was already in the running for worst week ever when it was capped off by me getting in an accident today. I was trying to turn left from a side street and a stop sign when a lady came flying around the corner and turned left right in front of me. Well she came out of a blind turn in a real hurry. She admitted to me she was speeding cuz she was running late. I didn't see her till I started to pull out to turn left and at this point she basically turned left into the front of my Blazer. She wrapped her Mitsubishi Lancer around my tubular steel bumper and squished my driver side fender a tiny bit. Because of my bumper she only chipped the paint on my bumper a bit. Well since I had a stop sign of course I'm at fault. Her little car is totaled too. Here's the weird thing that I need help with though guys, other that a little force with the hit and a little damage to my driver's side fender I had no physical damage but somehow this accident caused my electric windows and the A/C both to stop working!? It seems the rest the elctrical is fine but I'm in deep doo doo cuz it's 115 degrees outside here right now! I can't drive without working windows or A/C! What the heck would cause that? Anyone know? Bad ground er??? C'mon guys this week has sucked help me figure it out please!:doah::(

Sounds like you knocked some relays out! I did this once in an accident.

Thanks for responding man. Well I'm looking under the hood here and I have no stinking idea where to even start looking for relays? It seems strange that that would do damage to anything because it almost felt like nothing in my Blazer. I did check the fuses and those were ok.... so if it is or could be relays, where would they be for the A/C and the power windows?

not only the relays but the fuses themselves and switches too, might be two completely different problems with either items

The relay for the AC would be mounted on the box under the hood. Small silver box normally, although it could have been changed. Check the little connector to the AC clutch as well.

Check the fusible links on the starter solenoid. It is possible that these two systems are run separately from the main harness due to the amp draws. Windows and AC use far more power than the other systems internally, so if I remember right, they have their own fusible link that could have already been going and the jarring could have finally finished them off.

Thanks man, that is some info I can use! I just need to find the schematics then and see if there is a fusible link for those two and where it is then. I didn't see a fuse box or anything under the hood, just the main one under the dash. Is the relay for the A/C mounted right on the area of the firewall behind the canister or whatever? I did just change that because the fan was only working on the high setting. Is that the same thing? Of course it's not blowing but I dunno that I even heard the compressor cycling after the accident. Could it still be the relay? Thanks!

The relay controls the cycling of the clutch. It should be right on the box with the evaporator. It is not the resistor pack that is in the box, but should be mounted on the outside.

Fusible links are similiar to wires and would be attached at the starter solenoid. They feed the power into the cab to the fuse box. If they are separate, then you could still get power to the fuse box without having any high draw systems working. They must be replaced with another fusible link, of the same color in order to properly protect your system. If they are weak looking, or burnt at all, they must be replaced.

There is no fuse box under the hood of our Blazers.

Hmm thank you so much!!! I was just thinking that the wires that go down to the solenoid were actually fairly tight. As in for whatever reason there was not a great deal of play in the wires. Perhaps the force actually caused the fusible link to shear or burn up. Now at least I have a good idea where to start looking! Could I test this with a multimeter at the fuse panel though? By removing the fuse for say the A/C and checking for power at the panel? Either way thanks again you have been a huge help!:o

I think the best way to know if it is there is to find the power wire coming from the solenoid to the relay on the AC box under the hood. Test that and see if there is power to the relay, if not you have found the culprit. If it has power, then it has to be a fuse somewhere else, but the only other ones are the fuse panel inside which, I believe, only handles the power feed to the relay, not the actual engaging of the clutch.

Yes siree Bob! Or should I say Sideshow Bob Lol...that looks like it's the culprit! Gonna try to get it replaced in the next couple of days. And you kick azz Lectric! Can't say thanks enough to ya!:D
