So, got stuck in the mud and i think my rear main seals leaking in my 6.2...

Environmental conditions do play a role here....

With all the "cons" of this given situation, I'll actually agree with your decision. The "pro" to your spending 'that extra money' is it better come with a warranty and return service.

Be sure to post back once you have it fixed - I'd like know what it was for sure, and to learn if I was wrong in diagnosis....

Good luck !!!

well, the story from the mechanic is that the truck was only down 1 qt of oil and when he topped it off and started her up, she ran fine. No leaks, no noises, no nothing. He did say the water pump was leaking and had to be replaced. Im not sure what to make of this, im relieved but i dont know why iwould see a stream of oil and loose so much pressure that i heard the lifters, and now the truck is fine. Any ideas? Im just worried itll happen again. He said he saw all the alll when he removed the inspection plate but when he ran it he got nothing..

Did he clean it up first ? There are some shady arse "mechanics" out there just in it for the income.

You have the all green according to him though. Here's the deal - Run it easy for a while and keep checking it for leaks or low pressure and such.

If a problem re-surfaces, post up on it.

In a perfect world, your problems are gone. You're just on the wrong rock.

yeah i was thinking the same. He said he cleaned it up and looked while it was running. I mean maybe my cdr was gummed up, but no oil pressure from just being down a qt? if the problems comes up again, i wont have the truck for awhile, so i really hope its gone. I mean you cant miss a leak that big

I'm still leaning towards a pressure problem. Diesels are big air machines. More so than a gas engine.
I have had my gas powered truck in some deep water before, although not for all that long.
If your tailpipe was stopped up by water pressure or mud, it could have caused enough blowby to overwhelm your breather and pressurize your crankcase. If the tailpipe were completely stopped up, the engine would have quit, but I figure just enough blockage to cause problems.
Those seals are not pressure seals. It would not take more than a pound or two to force the oil out.
I have actually seen that on a gas engine one time. This idiot bought a pair of unvented chrome plated oil filler caps and put one on each valve cover to make it look cool.
Of course, that meant that the engine had no vent to the crankcase, and it started slinging oil out the front seal. Don't know about the rear. We noticed when the belts started slipping and saw a puddle under the front.
Got a good laugh out of that one.

Thats good to know. Only 1 tailpipe was under. Its got true dual pipes. Ill keep my eye on it and if it act up ill check out the cdr.
