Had a friend call me yesterday. Says his friend got his jeep stuck down near the river in a hole. Asked me if my rig was back in order from the past tellico trip and if I would come winch him out of the hole. I says "why sure, just put a new crossmember under it and reattached the front shocks. Still got a blowed hub, but if all I got to do is winch him out no problem." So I got off of work today and headed out to recover the jeep. A couple of guys just happen to be at the gate of the property and ask if they can come and watch. I say jump on. We get into it and one says "I bet it would be a biotch if you got this thing stuck" I said "I don't know, I'v never been stuck" Man this place was nasty, river mud on top of thick grass, holes everywhere, water covering the trail so you don't know what is river and what is road. Anyway I get down the trail and see the jeep, it's front is tilted in a hole they claim is about 6 foot. Well, I stop a ways back before the road turns into a flooded plain and start winching. No probem pulling him out of the hole but I didn't realize that I had dug my front in. Remember only one wheel will pull. So what did I do, get stuck, I dug 3 42" holes for myself. No problem just winch myself out and I did. When I finally get out after slinging roostertails, I make a spot to turn around. Then I back up to the jeep so I can pull him the rest of the way out. This is about the time that something goes screwy with my clutch linkage and I can no longer get the truck in gear. Feels like the pedal is hard. So to end this story my K5 and the Jeep are still down by the river, but not stuck just not moving under its own power. Oh yeah here are a couple of pics. I would have winch myself the rest of the way out but it was getting dark and had already seen a water macassin big enough to eat a small dog.
