You ever kind of think people are just plan dumb? Well, I'm not sure if it was me for thinking someone couldn't screw up this bad or that the person that did the harness splice on my 4L80e trans harness is just an idiot.

While I was doing the R&R on my trans I figured I'd pull back the tape on the harness just to get a looksee in there. :haha: I was beside myself. I never thought anyone could do such a terrible job at something so simple.

There must be 12 out of the 15 wires with at least 1/2 inch of exposed wire on both ends of the butt connectors!!! I was dumbfounded, speechless I tell you! I couldn't put it into words.

Lucky for me the new trans came with the updated external harness so I could repair this ****!

This is the harness I cut out. I can't believe it didn't burn up the entire harness.

After about 40 minutes of soldering and double heat shrink it's all good.

Note to self, never trust anyone's work ever again.

update / repair plug for body side to trans is suppose to come with heat shrink butt connectors .

and ya that is a bit scarry down there before you fixed it GOOD .

It's weird that someone thought they knew enough to tackle that themselves, and yet screw the pooch so badly on it.

Butt connectors are for trail fixes, not permanent wiring. People commit crimes against humanity with those stupid things. Yeah sure it works the first day, but after a couple years under the vehicle, the probability of failure goes to 99%.

Good to see you got it figured out. Usually a good day when a long-term mystery is suddenly clear.
