after something in the steering box broke, (a couple of bolts holding it on) i had the truck towed home and parked it in the yard like i was planing on doing for the winter. well i finally got around to loking into was was wrong, well both high and low p.s. lines broke and 3 of the 4 bolts hodling the box snaped inside and 1 was hand tight.

it looks like i didnt do any damage to the frame but this wasent the first time it hapened to this truck, the top left bolt hole is cracked, and there is a plate behind it. Is it too late to get the ORD weld in repair kit? does anyone have pics of the install? this spring were putting in a 350 so would that be the best time to weld in the repair patch?

thanks

Drill out the end of the crack to stop it from spreading, then weld 'er up. Throw in the bolt-in brace after that and you should be good to go.

In your first pick it looks like like either a crack or a semi-repaired crack from the rt bottom bolt up to the top of the frame. You need to clean that area real good and check it out cause something has to be going on to cause this multiple times. That is unless the box was just loose.

I do believe the weld in kit goes on from the outside, so the engin being out doesn't matter, i would put the weld on kit on with the bolt on brace, and fix the leak, because oily threads don't stay tight.

Ohh... ORD has some pics of the weld on brace. I'm gonna get it. I have the bolt on,but I need more protection.

Thick skin in here highly recommended. If your happy with the welds then roll it! Don't let people get under your skin....
