so i had my truck airborn with stock 10bolts and broke my...

this is a recent problem. happend after i was wheeling her hard and getting some air. It didnt look like the linkage moved but who knows. Ill mess with the linkage first, then if i must ill grind being i cant ungrind haha. Any tips to how to access/adjust the linkage? I have a haynes book ill try to dig up, but that book does not explain most operations well.

Edit: okay, from my searching i gather the best way to adjust the tcase is to throw the shifter in 2hi, disconnect the linkage, throw both the tcase into 4hi manually and the shifter to 4hi then adjust the linkage to match?

Edit2: i guess i should start by looking the the fluid level, would the wrong fluid or low fluid cause this?

Nice truck! Space between the bumeper looks a little big, you probably bent those brackets pretty good. Go easy on the enviroment, the greenies look for any exscuse to shutdown more trails. Also for that matting under your hood, my vehicle never had it, nor did my buddies '79 blazer. Probably better to have it than not but I do not have it.

Sorry guys, for teh newb. I was trying for like half an hour but i dont know how i got myself in there. I banged up my body a bit trying to get out. The damage was falling a rotted dead tree and 2 baby ones to make the uturn. I was alot further ahead than my friend. Ill be more careful next time, its the only trails we have in the area, im not even sure of the legal status of it. Theres no signs and no nothing, off roaders go in there all the time. Still, i would not like to be compared to assholes throwing trash and beer bottles on the trail. Some parts of this trail have burned out car wrecks so its not the best area but its still big for us. Theres a giant sandpit too with ruts, bumps, puddles and all that good stuff. You get the trails and the sandpit. All i know is im done for awhile with the heavy duty ****, i abused her enough. And im not goin anywhere until i get this front bumper figured out.

Acceptable damage is aceptable ;)
Just make sure it's not intentional dumb butt damage :)

which brackets? the ones that mount on the sides? It was loose if you look at the vid, but now she seems fine and im missing some bolts at the momment. i only beat on her in that pit area with all the garbage but i think ive pushed my luck with her and the 10 bolts. dont wanna do any major damage. Still gotta replace some bolts on the bumper and adjust the linkage on the tcase, hopefully thats it. Dont wanna have to replace/rebuild it.

Do not rip the pad out!

it is designed as a fire blanket, if you have a back fire/fuel leak or something that results in a fire under your hood it falls and smothers the o2 from the fire.

if you do have a fire shut the truck off and dont open the hood unless you are prepared to fight the fire with a 5lb or proper chemical fire extinguisher. If you open it you feed the fire air and it gets ugly quick.

I had the pleasure of learning this the hard way and watched my 86 become a car-b-que

Carry a fire extinguisher... and pack for the trail :looser: :doah:
hehe... kinda kidding...
I didnt know it was a fire blanket... :eek1:
