So i have a t-case ?

I searched but the wrong info came up i have a chance at picking up a 465/with a rockwell t-case any one have any thoughts oh its in a 68 chassis
 
I wouldnt use it if I were you. But if for some reason you feel absolutely compelled by the power of God to use it, give it a total rebuild and keep an eye on the oil level, they like to leak. And if they leak, the input bearing gets starved of oil. And if that happens...BANG. Had it happen to me. Go with a 205 if at all possible.
 
What he^^^^^said on the Rockwell t-221 transfer case.

If it's got a Rockwell transfer case attached to it, it's not an SM465, it's an SM 420.
Basically the same as 465, just not fully synchronized, not quite as strong, and only one pto port on it.
What were your intentions for it?

Not always. My '69 had a 465/married T221 that was stock.

My advice? If you are getting this setup cheap or free, keep the SM465 and ditch the transfer case, adapter, and sleeve. Find a common 10 spline NP205, its sleeve and adapter, and it bolts right up. You'll be better off.

The SM420 isn't much weaker that the SM465 and neither are fully synchronized. I know that 2nd, 3rd, and 4th on the SM465 are fully synchronized, and its most likely the same on the SM420.

Also the SM420 comes with a lower granny gear of 7.05:1 rather than the 6.55:1 of the SM465.
