decided it was time...as much fun as it was I need to start getting this thing into a more presentable fashion :)
That and the functionality issues of having all of the vents (including the ones for the defroster) covered up and b/c of the hair the dash just sat there...always rattling around.
So I shaved it all off...cut out the vents holes...stapled it down from the back side and then unscrewed the dash and put it in place...then screwed it all back together...nice and secure...

Old dash....

haha, that actually does make it look hella better....

yeah it does...and the fact that the dash actually fits and doesn't rattle around is nice. Plus not to mention the air can actually flow like it is supposed to...I still don't have the highest setting on the blower motor which sucks but at least I have all of the other settings...

Wow, I can't believe you actually shaved your dash. I thought you had returned to normalcy, but I was wrong. Oh, and since you're posting your system, I'll take this chance to be a pic whore and show off mine I got this week. (1200w Sony amp, 1400w 12" Sony sub, 4 6x8 Sony 240w speakers, Alpine head unit, custom fiberglass speaker pods, custom amp cover):D

cool...sure is easy when its in a blazer :)
Thats the only thing I don't like about my truck...such limited interior space...but two 12's seem to be doing the trick ;)

Oh and whats w/ the speaker pods? Even w/ power windows there is room down there to cut a little bit...that way they wouldn't stick out so far...

I figured some of you that remembered it would get a kick out of me shaving it off :)

Yeah, I'm glad I got my K5, having all that space is nice. Plus the interior gives a lot of air for the sub to push around, so even with it being all the way in the back, it vibrates my eyeballs. I love it. :D

I didn't really want to cut into the doors, and since the owner of the place I got it installed at did custom fiberglass work for show trucks, I thought I might as well do it. They don't stick out that much and have plenty of clearance for feet and what-not. Next step is all new speakers in the dash, and a seperate amp for all the speakers, along with an alarm to protect my baby.

looks better than I thought it would.

I know...it sort of surprised me too...I figured it would look weird...all choppy and clumped into sections but it looks darn nice...better than before w/o a doubt.

True...its always nice to take advantage of the skills that are available...

Quick, somebody call animal control! It's alive! Haha, Avery, you're truck could easily pass as the Shaggy DA with that dashpile. By the looks of it, you could be shaving that thing again real soon. Don't travel east of the Mississippi. Your truck could get in hot water with PETA.

hopefully it can go a good month w/o needing to be cut again...I'll try to cut down on the watering....

oh and btw obijuan...bitchin' or not it wasn't functional....it didn't fit right...cut off circulation for the ac/heat and was annoying at times because I couldn't see any of my guages...

I wasn't sure what to think when I read the title. First thoughts were of shaved door handles so I wondered what you had trimmed / covered up. Then i saw the clippers and it all came back to me.

That's wild man.

How'd you candy cane your DS by the way? I know it irks alot of guys on here but I always thought it was pretty cool. mask it off with tape or something?

That's disgusting--No man in his right mind would do such a thing to his truck. Shaved or not---

lol...I didn't do it...the p/o did it...I just fixed it...like everything else on the truck ;)

uhhh as far as the d-shaft goes...yeah...I just cleaned it up really well...sanded down any rough spots...painted it all one color...let it dry really really well...then I used some tape from the hobby shop that you can make tight radius' with...taped it up...repainted the shaft then when it got tacky I took the tape off...then let it all dry for a little bit.

:o while I wouldn't have done it, I have to admit it looks pretty cool
