that had identity problems :haha:
The ad stated "1994 GMC truck, 4door, 4wd, 5 speed, 6.2 diesel, needs pump work, $1200." I presumed that the 6.2 part was a mistake and went to look at the truck.

The factory stickers were worn beyond readability.
It is a crew cab LB in the round body style, so it has to be 1992 or newer.
It has the NV4500, so it has to be 1992 or newer.
It is (or was) a 6.2 diesel, not a 6.5, because it has the box style fuel filter on the firewall, so it has to be 1993 or older.
The bumper does not have the square holes in it.
It has v-belts instead of serpentine, which I believe went out in '89 or '90.
It has a GM-4 turbo on it, which started in 1995 I believe.
Pump is a DB2829-4894 if I remember correctly, the 2829's are non-turbo models.

Guess that leaves me with a 1992 truck that got an older 6.2 dropped in and turbo'ed with a newer factory turbo setup. Dude said he'd take $1000 . . .

It could also be a '94 that someone replaced the turbo, filter, and engine... What does the vin # tell you?

Yeah, it's possible I guess, but who would go to the trouble of mounting one of those box type filters on the firewall? It does have the proper turbo intake manifolds with the filter mounts in the back . . .

Good call on the vin#, I'll have to run it . . .
