This is a follow up post to one from the other day. I origionally thought my starter might be going out but Im fairly sure thats not the case. This is what happens. When I go to start the truck the engine revs up but does not start. My belts squeel pretty bad so I wonder if this problem may be that I need to replace my belts. Now when this started it wouldnt really do it once the truck was warm however recently, last couple days, when I finally get the truck started and drive it somewhere and go to restart it will do it a few times again.

If, when you turn the key, the motor spins over as quickly as usual it's not the battery or starter or any wiring in between.

If your truck won't start it has nothing to do with belts, no question.

You have to tell us more information: what year truck, engine, what's happening, etc.

Its a 1986 K5 Blazer. Were not sure what engine it has in it. Origionally it came with a 305 per the sticker but the guy I bought it from swears its a 350. It cranks ok and then it sounds like the RPM's go up but the engine is basically already dying. If I really play with the gas it will keep running.

Again, if the motor spins over like it should the problem isn't battery or starter.

Belts won't make any difference for anything until the motor is running.

Sounds like you have carburetor (or more specifically, choke) issues.

Two things to check.

1) Fuel: The delivery of fuel to the engine... Pumps, filters, etc..
2) Ignition: Wires, plugs, ignition modual if applicable

Im feeling its one of the two..

Andrew
