Ok, so I sold a few of my parts and I'm ready for the next phase of my build. Got the TH400 almost done, transfer case has new seals and is ready to go, all the engine parts are on the way, shouldn't need anything else there. I want to get a few more parts coming so I can do it all at once, but having a hard time decided what to do with the last bit of cash for my truck. Here are my two options, having a hard time picking which one I should go with:

Buy a new set of 35" swampers or

Get a locker for the rear and new gears all around

What do you guys think? I'll be using the truck on trails (2 tracks) and some rocks, mud when ever it rains. I have a set of old 33" H1 Bias Plys that would get me around, but are far from decent, and the axles I am putting in are in good shape, but are 3.73 (10b front, 14bff rear). Just don't know which I should do as the next step. Going to be a few months before I can do the one I don't pick, so want to pick what will give me the most fun this summer. :D

I would say locker and gears, and you could probably find a used set of 35's somewhere in decent shape (70%+) for pretty cheap. I've also seen used detriots for 14B's pop up from time to time, there's not much that could break on a used... So maybe you could get everything!

Yeah I was hoping it would have worked out that way, been keeping an eye out for everything, but either miss out or it's too costly to ship. Problem now is the truck is rolling in the garage in a couple weeks to get everything done to it and I wanted to do it all at once. Guess I could wait a little longer :)

yep what he said....or spool the rear mini spools for 14bolts are cheap new...and look into buyin a trutrac or somekind of limited slip for the 10blt....it will save your axle shafts...

yea get the lockers because chances are somebody around you might have some tires they just have to get rid of and you could come kindly help them out hahaha:haha:
plus i bet you would want to go bigger after a while, thats what always seems to happen

I thought about a mini spool, but I have to drive in on the street some and figured that would be a pain, so kinda stuck to locker for now.

Sounds like lockers and gears are the best choice. Going bigger on tires is already something I've thought about, maybe I should wait :)

yea i put my old 35s on my blazer and they look good but i cant help but think what some 37s would look like

I know what you mean, spent a couple hours going through pics last week trying to decide if I wanted to go bigger and cut my fenders, or was 35's ok :).

Guess I'll keep my eye out for a used locker for a week or so, if anyone has the spider gear replacement version of a detroit for sale for a 14BFF hit me up, cash in hand for the right price. :)
