1/2 ton status
i have all the parts from an 84 k30, d60/14bff sm465/np205, my lift kit, shackle flip, tires and wheels, factory steering correction. was planning on building my 80 k5, but recently bought a very straight no rust k10, so now i have a decision to make! my k5 is starting to show some body rot and its an automatic tranny tub, no real biggie, but the k10 was a standard shift truck and is very straight and rust free.
i've been saving parts for awhile and am about ready to start putting all this stuff together. the decision i have to make is, i've found another truck, a c-20 cc srw w/454/th400 that is pretty straight, the rockers are showing a little rust, but i'm mainly looking at the big block and the trans for a 2wd project later on, plus i'd like to swap the grilles out b/c the 87 2wd has the stacked headlights and the k-10 has just the 2 light setup.
which brings up a question, can i just swap out the headlight pieces and bezels or will i have to swap everything, i ask b/c the k-10 has a factory grille center and the c-20 has a tube grille that i don't like, i know i'll have to put the turn signals behind the factory grille, if i can just swap the minimal amount of parts around...BUT... the main question IS, should i drop another grand on another truck just for its engine/trans and grille. i can put the k-10 grill back in the cc so that it is a complete truck minus the drive train and i could sell it or part it out, same w/ my 80 k5 on 3/4 tons.......would you buy the 1987 cc srw truck?
