What is your opinion on these rear springs on the '05 Avalanche. These are supposed to be lowered springs as well, but um,, yeah, I dunno :doah:

I'm thinkin they are alittle on the sagged or even broken somewhere. I haven't been able to get it up in the air, but after seeing them in this shape, I'm half way scared to, for fear they are gonna just fall apart.

What I was doing was trying to pinpoint a rattle, a bunch of squeeking and just odd noises from the rear. I did find that the passenger side lower shock bushing is pretty much gone, the spare tire is not all the way tight in it's resting position and just the rear suspension trailing arms, sway bar, track arm bushings look like they could use some lube.

I'm also trying to determine by the color, design or build, on which brand they would be. So I either DON'T get another set from them, or contact them with these pictures and see what they say. I have already priced out a few other brands, and there is a definate wide range in pricing for the rears only. Something in the range of about $160 up to $290 for a pair.

I so far, from the short research on the internetz earlier today, am thinking these are a Belltech spring setup, based soley on the powder coated gray/silver coloring.

kinda sucks as this is an '05, and I would guess they were installed shortly after the original owner bought the truck,,, 5 years on a set of springs?

Wow that sucks, must have been abused or pulled alot of weight to do that...

although I can't see any heat marks, thats what we used to do to lower our cars with coils. Heat up the bottom couple of springs and they would collapse.

I wouldn't go on color alone to ID those springs. I had a set of Eibachs on a Camaro that were the same color. They most likely come out of one factory anyways and get packaged for whatever brand. I'm thinking those springs are sacked out. Maybe the PO overloaded the truck or towed too heavy. Those a/m lowering springs are more designed for the look of the truck with less a concern for function.

My advice, find a set of factory take off springs from someone else who has installed the lowering kind and no longer wants the originals. Restore the truck to its original ride height and quality.

Unless you like the lowered look, then go buy another set of springs and don't plan to use the truck like a truck.
