Are too short..

I'm thinking about ordering some 6" lift shocks since I don't want to do any custom mounting. I don't need loads of travel, but the 1.5" I've got before current ones are fully extended is pretty annoying.

Or, how about the best way.. how do I measure the travel needed? Unbolt my limiting straps(aka current shocks) and go climb a dirt pile?

Yes, climb anything that will max out the suspension, like a ramp.

You can then measure min and max and go from there. Lift kit shocks are terrible for being too short, which leads to busted mounts. Bilstein and others sell shocks by length...which is a much better option.
