So uhm...how do you adjust the shifts on a 700R4 behind a 6.2?

My first thought...and vaguely so...is "adjust the TV cable".

But yeah...diesel...so uhm, how?

Thing has 3.73 gears and came stock with 28" tall 235/75R15's. Needless to say the shifts are off and it's trying to go into OD around 40mph.

Don't mess with the TV cable, it needs to be set properly and left there or you will damage your transmission.

My old 6.2s with 700r4s were always in O/D by 40mph as well, kind of the nature of the beast. You can shift the transmission manually if you want to hold the gear longer without doing any mechanical work on the transmission, but the proper way to adjust it would be to change the springs in the valve body.

Okay, guess it's not just me.

If I didn't live in such a hilly area it wouldn't be so bad. I'll have to just keep it in D until I can spring for a shift kit and such. It's on the list but WAY down.

Eh, I'm pretty happy with this 700R4. I know it was rebuilt about a year ago and it shifts nice. Other than the early OD thing it's been pretty good to me so far.

Big Ugly's getting a SM465...maybe NV4500 depending on what my future holds in the next year...but I think this will stay an auto until I have enough cash to just be able to blow it on something I really don't need at all.

Can't say as I'm a big fan of the NV3500 though...my friends all blew theirs up.

Eh, I blew a few of em up myself. Usually my own fault for being too rough on them though. I really like the gear spacing on the 3500 vs a 4500. Just right for a diesel engine!

I can't see doing the work to put in a transmission of dubious reliability...just seems wrong.

I hear you on the NV4500's gearing though...sorta like a lot of the fuel trucks I used to drive.
LOW, still low, okay for 15mph, 20mph, and 25mph and then wind that big block out!

Nah, whole transmission would cost more than my truck and there'd be fab'd parts involved.

T56 viper 6 speed and divorced case...lol

I actually drove an 06 Dodge with the 6 speed. Shift, shift, shift, was all I felt like I was doing. Just as it was getting fun I was running out of R's again. Good for towing I'm sure...but empty it was just annoying.
