So what are the best rockcrawling seats?

I have beards standard (read cheaper) suspension seat. I am 5'6" 150lb (I am a little guy) and fit well. Hossbaby50 is 6'+ over 200lb and fits too, with no problem. I have yet to have anybody complain about comfort of the seats. If it is a DD they can be a pain to get in and out of all of the time. That raised side portion can become a bit of a hassle real quick. I have heard mastercraft is a tad better than beard, but for the abuse they can take for the price I love my beards. For the money you are talikin' for a pair, that will be used for at least the next couple of years, it might be worth it to drive a ways to a shop that has them for showroom "testing".

I'll bet the Blazer mounts are $224.95 /forums/images/graemlins/yikes.gif
The approximate total would be $885 + shipping.
The Beard Enduro seats I can get for $265 each and the mounting kit for a Blazer (yes they have them) are about

If you're worried about paying extra for mounts, just make your own...I DID! JEKBROWN has some pics of his seat mounts he made (where I got my idea) in his webshots. All you need is a section of angle iron, some flat steel and nut&bolts. It mounts to your factory brackets so you cal still use the slide on the drivers side and passenger tilt /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

Dave, from what I could see, the 34" listed for the Beard enduro seat is the exterior height, not interior (i.e. from seat cushion to top of headrest. I just went and measured; the interior height on my two seats is 31" for the PreRun (which is borderline for me) and 32.5" for the Pro (which I ordered with the lower, thinner seat cushion; perfect for what I wanted). As I said before, that interior height criterion, and how high that headrest comes up in relation to my head, was very important to me because of the street driving. Before I got my seats, I had called up Beard/Redart, they were very helpful, but their seats had lower interior height than Mastercraft even with the 'tall' option; then again, I don't recall that they offered the Enduro model last year.

It's funny you post this. I was reading through it yesterday to see what people had posted. Got home last night and there was a Red Art(Beard) envelope in the mail... It was their new catalog and price sheet!!! They have some nice looking products!

Only seats I can comment on are the Corbeaus.. They were a little tight for my liking.

Well, it sounds like I would be happy with either of them so maybe I will try the Beard Enduro seats and we can do a test with them at Blazer Bash /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I was looking at the Corbeau Baja Ultra and there other seats but they only come in two colors and look kinda generic?

oh, i didn't know the bling factor was relevant to the "best rockcrawling seats" question... /forums/images/graemlins/doah.gif

I know that color choices aren't the most important thing about "The best rockcrawling seats" but if color didn't matter at all, we could all be driving the same color Blazer & Pick-ups. That would be REALLY cool! /forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

I just got back from Denver and found a store down there that carried several Beard and Mastercrft seats so I could check them out.
There are a few differences between them that I saw.
The Mastercraft have better webing underneath with two straps under to butt area for extra support.
The welds and brackets at the bottom of them for mounting are a little better on them and if you want the lumbar support are mechanical on the Mastercraft where the Bread uses a hand pump bladder which is not suppost to be that great. Neither have hardly any problems and great customer service according to the store.
Overall, they are both really good seats.
Just thought I'd pass it on........

At those kinds of prices, I don't fault you a bit for wanting them in a particular color. In fact, the way I look at it, if they won't make the seat you want in the color you want, they don't want your business.

I understand companies can't satisfy everyone, but if your top of the line seat only comes in two color combinations, something is wrong.

well, since the corbeau baja SS seats are available in 9 different colors, I guess nothing is "wrong" other than customers in-ability to read their website...

in any case, im not sure I have ever noticed the color of the seats in a rig... unless they are something butt ugly. I quit trying to be cool when I became an adult so I don't really care. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif anyway, the baja ss is a great seat at a great price AND they come in several blingy colors.... so there ya have it.

Well, I guess you are right about the Corbeau Baja SS seats (my bad) but I was looking at the Ultra SS that come in black & white. The only problem I found is that they didn't have enough selection in tall seats. Other than that, they do have a good price.

oh ok, good point. I never did any research on the ultra, since i wanted the regular baja ss. Something worth noting... corbeau's web site says the "The Baja Ultra SS will fit up to a 36-38" waist"... which is pretty interesting considering I recently had a 38" waist (lost weight once I got a damn job!) and thought the regular Baja ss seats (which are narrower than the ultra) fit me just fine. I dunno, maybe they have people wear super thick clothes and try the seats... but in my experience, the numbers they give are very conservative. If you are a really big guy, they do make a "baja ss ultra wide" seat that is fully 2" wider than the standard baja ss.

anyway, there is NO question in my mind that mastercrafts are outstanding seats. Really high end stuff, with an appropriately high-end price. The Corbeaus have worked great for me, they are significantly cheaper (mine were $149 each, whereas some mastercrafts can be $300+ ea), and they are really really cozy (everyone's back has different needs, granted)... that is why every time a "what seat should I get" thread starts, I recommend them. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

i have beard ultras.
they are so comfy and they really hold you in on off camber driving maneuvers.
I'll always go beard...

Yep, lots of good ones out there but I think I'm going to get the Beard Enduro's. I want a tall seat and www.redart.com is going to give me a good deal on them and considering they where a sponcer for our Blazer Bash a couple of years ago, I want to support our sponcers.
Hey! BTW, who won those mounting brackets anyway?
I'll let you all know how it works out and what I think when I get them. Thanks everyone for all the opinions and help.
Dam I love this place /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

So are you going to have these seats by the BB? If so I would love to give them a try when I see you down there. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif I look at all the pictures on the net but it is really hard to tell what they would actually be like in person.

Maybe I'll just go around hopping into everyones rigs and see which I like the best /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
