So what tire's are you gonna get next?

Re: So what tire\'s are you gonna get next?

If you need some decent 12.50x33s for a good price check out:Wal- Mart tires
I am running the 12.50x 33x15 super sport HT. They have a very agressive tread and work very good in the mud and deep snow. I was just out today in the mud, snow and ice driving the river bottom hunting ducks. I had to break the trail in my K5 so my buddys jeep could follow. He couldn't break through the snow and get enough traction in his heep.
The tires work great for me
They have a 50,000 mile tread warrente and road hazzard. The only problem is the store by me had to order them and it took about a week to get them. I think They are a good tire for $115. The service manager told me they were made by Goodyear.

Re: So what tire\'s are you gonna get next?

I think I might get some of the 37" goodyear MT/R's when my swapmer TSLs run out. I think it would be nice to get them from somewhere local and not have to worry about driving for an hour to pick them up

My 73 K5 http://www.geocities.com/xk5blazerx/73k5.htm 350/TH350/NP203, Q-jet, Edelbrock intake, Vortec heads, 4" lift, and 36" TSL's

Re: So what tire\'s are you gonna get next?

I am between TSLs in the following sizes:

38x12.50x15
16/38.5x15
15/39.5x15

Any opinions are welcome. Obviously the skinny 38s are cheapest, and I have had good luck with the 12.50 width as far as keeping my truck in control on the rough spots of the trail where you've got to hold it wide open to get traction, but you don't want to hit a tree.

What do you guys think, skinny or wide 38s for mud?

Re: So what tire\'s are you gonna get next?

If you want to stay 33s or step up to 35s go with the Goodyear MTRs. They are awsome. I have had mine for a year and hardly any wear on them. I offroad in the truck at least twice a week also. Mostly rocks.

Re: So what tire\'s are you gonna get next?

I now have Swamper TSL's in 38's, I'm seriously thinking of going to 40's in Ground Hawgs. Who knows, maybe even 44's in Dick Cepek/Fun Country's

Re: So what tire\'s are you gonna get next?

I would say wide for the mud. I like the skinner tires for rockcrawling because it allows me to fit down the jeep trails a little easier.

Re: So what tire\'s are you gonna get next?

35x12.5-16 Goodyear MTR's on 16x10 MT Classic II's. Hopefully Goodyear will have this size by next year, when I'll need tires. Of course, my 4" lift has to be purchased & installed by then, too...

Re: So what tire\'s are you gonna get next?

I'm still up in the air on what to get. Bud has a set of 36 radial spampers for sale for $400. They have between 60-75% on each tire. Road good though. Worried about how quick they will wear. I have gotten awsome wear from my BFG muds. I priced a set of BFG 35 inch KM's yesterday for $159 each mounted with road hazard at Costco. My rims are pretty beat also so I think I May go with some black wagons 15x10 with 3 inches of back space. I want to push the tires out some. Then some spacers on the back. Trying to save the side of the truck some. took a beating the last 12 months.

Re: So what tire\'s are you gonna get next?

Radial TSL's are a very descent ride as is, but if you sipe em they get real nice! I recommend siping any big lug tire and it takes maybe an hour if you get at it. I'll have an article up soon, maybe tonight.

Oh yeah I decided I'm gonna go 35x15x15 SX on 15x10 Eaton steel for my next set.

Re: So what tire\'s are you gonna get next?

I have some BFG MT, 33x12.50s. They had 300 miles when I got them and I got all 4 on rims for $100 from my brother-in-law. I've been looking at 35x15.50 Super Swamper TSL/SX as a 1st choice but if not enough $$$ then I'll go for the 35x12.50 BFG M/T. That tread pattern has worked well for me so far. And has lasted quite well.

Re: So what tire\'s are you gonna get next?

After going wheelin this weekend with a bunch of guys with 35's, I think 35's are next. I was dead set on BFG Muds, but after seeing the Goodyear MTR is action this weekend I don't know. I am up in the air. I will have a while to decide, because I don't have any money. But that is what I figured out this weekend 35's, BFG's or MTR's that is the question.

My Chevy isn't broken, its just out of gas.

Re: So what tire\'s are you gonna get next?

35x12.5 General Grabbers on an 8 inch aluminum rim. Or the Mud kings. Had 35's on my Toy and they were a good tire. But have to put on the 4 inch lift first. Spent the x-mas money on redoing my front steering components.

Re: So what tire\'s are you gonna get next?

Like BadDog; I'm interested in the Michelins! Nice big 39" Radial for a 16" wheel. However; if my current 37" SSR's are still alive at the time I look for new; I might keep them for street & get some 40-42" Swampers for "play" only!!

Re: So what tire\'s are you gonna get next?

Well I am sitting on 40x17x16.5 ground hawgs.... but will want to go with 39.5 boggers next or considering I know someone who just told me I can have a set of 38" gumbo mudders for free... that might be my next choice..... If I dont get the freebies or boggers I will go back with Ground Hawgs so I can put my used ones on my pickup trailer.... :)

Re: So what tire\'s are you gonna get next?

MTRs Hoss, they are the way to go, that and they are about the same price as the BFGs at discount. I have the new BFGs on the burb and I like them, but cup a little to fast for me.
