You mean tip it so the input shaft is pointing down? It shouldn't leak if that is the case, there is an input seal. The rear of a 465 is sealed using a gasket between it and whatever transfer case adapter is used. If the input is pointing up gear oil will leak out the back if no t-case is bolted to it.
Yea I was afraid that was goin to be the case. Since the input shaft is captive what does it take to put a new seal in?
As I recall, there is an aluminum housing that holds the seal. Unbolt the housing, remove the housing (with seal), replace seal, re-install housing.
