.....is all the gear oil sposed to leak out or should there be a seal that would prevent said same?

So when you tip a 465 on its' nose......

You mean tip it so the input shaft is pointing down? It shouldn't leak if that is the case, there is an input seal. The rear of a 465 is sealed using a gasket between it and whatever transfer case adapter is used. If the input is pointing up gear oil will leak out the back if no t-case is bolted to it.
Yea I was afraid that was goin to be the case. Since the input shaft is captive what does it take to put a new seal in?
As I recall, there is an aluminum housing that holds the seal. Unbolt the housing, remove the housing (with seal), replace seal, re-install housing.
Okey dokey. As soon as I get the mess cleaned up I'll have to look into that.
