I removed the radio from the blazer when I tore it down, it was a way outdated system that will never go back. But I ran most of last summer without a radio and it really sucked on the drive to and from the dunes.

I am building a cage so I have been looking at the boat speakers. Ones that can mount to tube. Whats a good speaker for the price?

Local audio store wanted like $300 a piece for boat bar mount things with polk speakers... Yah screw that...

I dont want to do a crazy system. Im not a big bass guy, i want something with good sound, but a clean system I can mount to cage, and run wires through the tube with a fish wire etc.

Whats out there. Semi decent head unit, small and simple is best. And some decent tube mount speakers.

Anytime you add 'boat' to anything you can double the price.

You may be able to find a jeep system, as I've seen a few bar mount type's there. Or build an enclosure and rig up some bar mounts, which would be a ton cheaper.

Qforms make some decent enough kick panels that would be probably be cheaper and easier to wire.

They sell harnesses that let you plug your iPod directly into an amp. It charges the iPod and obviously streams hardwired so the sound quality is top notch.
iPod shuffles have a really good built in FM tuner as well so you could have radio capabilities at the same time. Clean and you can just unplug it if you don't want to leave it in the blazer.

When I had my m1009, my plan was to run Kicker dash speakers in the stock location, then 6x9s that are mounted in ammo cans. I also got a Kicker amp (300watt I think) then was going to use one of those rf/headphone jack cables to attach the ipod directly to the amp. I didn't want anything in the dash. I have all the parts, just ended up selling the truck before I installed everything.

I like this. Id rather just not have a head unit. So just wire all the speakers to the amp.

What's a decent "cheap" pricewise amp that will work for that? Smallest physical size would be good. Im not much of a Bass "bumping" guy, but I do like actually hearing the drum beats.

Ive got an old ipod I could just load songs only on and just leave it in there.

I've seen those harnesses on eBay and Amazon. Some guys will just get an 1/8" to RCA and plug directly from the headphone jack to the input on the amp but I've heard this can cause issues for the iPod power wise. Plus it won't charge it.
I'd just google it and find a harness. Then hit up Crutchfield or your favorite audio place and find a 4ch marine amp so it's weather proof.

right now I believe the Soundstream Tarantula Nanos are the best bang for the buck. And they're small in size. I'm running 3 right now and considering a 4th. They do rated output.
