Those with soft tops on their first gens, how well does it seal around the Windows? My hard top has a lot of cracks and I want to get a soft top but I know how bad my hard top leaks around the Windows.

That would be great, most of the adds I have seen are horrible at showing the detail of the door opening

Here are some pics. Let me know if you need any better explanations or any other angles/pics I didn't get. I wish it put the descriptions I gave each picture in my album, but since it didn't you can see them here:

When you click on the pictures under the album, it has the short description for each below the title in light gray font.

Wow!
Is that the same one ORD sells??

Should some of the rubber seal for the hard top be removed at the windshield??

I believe it is the same, only one on the market and is made by Softopper out of Colorado.

My hard top rubber seal that runs across the header is removed. I have a slightly uncommon setup as I made a piece that runs across the top that bolts into my hardtop mounts so that I didnt have to drill into my actual header piece. But that doesnt seem to raise the soft top up. I am pretty sure that I have the brackets for the window frame section of the softopper frame in a lower position, so not sure that gap towards the front could get much better.

Would it be possible to run full truck doors with a soft top? maybe get a better seal? Im guessing probably not but im not sure if anyone has tried.

You could do that but using un-cut truck doors on a first-gen has been outlawed many years ago in nearly every state, except Alaska. (Don't know what's up with them...) Don't risk it! :shame:

Really? I'd never heard that. Do you know why?

Good point, don't want to go around looking like a ram charger. :)

It's a "Last Frontier" thing...

Anyone run their full top year round and live up north? Up in the PNW i'd want atleast a descent water seal.. I wonder if you can fab something up to fill in the gap around front top portion of the door. A sort of "add on" to the top of the wing window. I guess with imagination and a welder anything is possible though right...
