the front seam over the windsheild doesn,t seal right. there is a plastic piece that hooks onto the windsheild.when i would install the top the plastic piece would bend down, toward the windsheild. now when i tighten the rear bars too lock top it bends upward. when i pass 35 ,40 miles an hour it unhooks , have too stop try an reinstall ( can,t seem to get it like before) or lower top. bought the top new must be around 6 years old ,its a fasttrac by (can,t remember the name it was 3 letters something like)STC. never had any problems before would hold up too anyspeeds. took top apart last night its hunting season coming around, hard top time. will post a few picture too show what i mean.

I believe you're installing it incorrectly. I had what I believe is the same STC top on my '73. You're supposed to roll the entire front end over and push it into the channel that way.

For (hopefully) clarity:
Imagine having the soft top sitting on the hood with the inside facing up, and the rear of the soft top pointing toward the front of the truck. You would then insert the front of the top into the channel, and flip the entire thing over the top of the windshield and attach as usual.

I fear I'm not making sense. I'll draw you a picture if you're still confused. I no longer have the top or truck, so I can't do pics.

i think i get what you mean. the hoops were always left attach too the canvas. all i would do is remove tension on the rear bars, unhook front and lower it behind rear seat. to install i would catch the front of the canvas and pull forward and it would all take its place. work fine for years!:dunno: we had a real hot summer would only lift top on occasion at night, for storage. never install side curtains all summer. its stored inside all the time. notice this about 2 weeks ago!!!:dunno:

That method of install was my experience too. I didn't actually lay mine out on the engine hood, but it was the best way I could think to describe it. Give it a shot with the roll over method and tell me what you think. ;)
