I have a 5 window soft top for my 87 K5, well 99 % missing rear piece for tailgate (can;t seem to find it on net). I am curious pros/cons to them.

I noticed some places won't allow you to off road there with out cage, easy to break in to, hair more noise. Pros there cool, daughter should enjoy wind blowing on her, shed a lot of weight, and don't see many 5 windows out there.

Also since bought mine used does factory weather strip go under soft top rails?

Mine is a Softopper. It has foam weather strip under the rails.

Lightweight, easy to access cargo, and open up the sides :D

I wish I had one.

Alas, I am too cheap too pay what they ask for one new,

No kidding. and from what I have seen on the ORD site, for some reason the 76 and on half tops are a hundred more that the full tops. I don't get that at all.

Had to check that for myself. It's recent cause I didn't pay that much when I bought mine. I think I only paid $800. Look around elsewhere, you can find them cheaper. Check Bronco places too.

WOOOW, that IS a recent price hike! I just bought one direct from Softopper for $829 plus shipping like two weeks ago. Just checked their website and they raised their prices there too which is why ORD had to follow suit. Sure glad I bought mine when I did and dodged that extra $100 wallet killer :D

It is a nice product but damn now were looking at about $1,000 to your door for a soft top :eek1:

And why in sam hell is the half top more expensive than the full top? Someone please explain the economics of that one to me :dunno:

Probably because more people want one..popularity !..supply and demand--the "hottest selling " items always cost more...unfortunately..

That's all I can think of--you'd think using less material and labor to make a half top would mean its cheaper, but no...:(

Tires for an 18" rim are more expensive than ones for a 16". Less material and more popular, explain that one :( lol

I have pushed a lot of brush with the body and hardtop that I wouldn't try with a $$ soft-top. I also have a roof-rack up there (sometimes) I can climb on. I don't think anybody but Can-Back ever offered a soft-top that takes a roof rack.

But I still wish I had a soft top...

Exactly, Softopper raised thier price so we had to as well.

A bed rail re-design is the explanation Softopper gave us.
