Does anybody know how to do the front edge of a soft top? The soft top front edge where wind and rain are driven underneath it. Could easily do snaps and velco every where else but that front edge. How to get it to seal against the wind and rain at highway speeds...

I just did mine (72 K5), I butted the front edge of the top up to the flange at the top of the windshield and started with the center snap screw and worked my way out, one left then one right, pulling it taut as I went. I went 70 down the highway the other day and had no problems with it, haven't had any rain yet though. I called Specialty Top and asked them if I should put any weatherstripping there and they said no, that the padding on the front of the top seals it.

Does that help at all?

got any close up photos of that front edge?

Not on my computer here at the office, but I can probably post some up tomorrow, or later today. I'm working on figuring out how to resize and upload pics to my ck5 gallery right now. I'll work on it, and if I can't do that I'll e-mail you with some attached.

Here's a couple of pics I just took. Mine is an older Bestop that I picked up second-hand.

Snapped on:

There is a foam seal that sits down where the hardtop seal sits:

Is that the info you were looking for?

I STARTED WITH THE ORIGINAL SNAPS AND PUT A NEW ONE BETWEEN EACH OF THESE APROX 3'' APART WORKED BETTER THAN THE HARD TOP AS FAR AS A WATER & WIND SEAL NEVER HAD IT COME LOOSE EITHER /forums/images/graemlins/hack.gif /forums/images/graemlins/weld.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grind.gif MY 69

Damn, I wish I'd thought of that, I just did mine a couple weeks ago.

I took some pics this weekend of the front, I just couldn't get them on to the gallery. I'm still working on it.
