Hey guys I have done some searches over the last few days on soft tops and have found some good information but not a whole lot of pics. I think I am going to try and make my own but could use some pics of the structures that you have to hold them up. Also if you could take some closer pics of how they mount to the body and such (especially around the cab) that would be a huge help. I drive my truck almost daily and during the spring summer and fall don't want to have to put the top back on. I have been using a tarp over the rear seat but it is getting some water on the seat still and it is just a pain. I don't want to put the top back on because of how much of a pain it is and also some of my mounting nuts just spin when I put the bolts back in or take them out and I have to hold them with plier:mad: . Thanks for you help in advance.
 
Thanks for the link. That will help. I also wanted to see if anyone in Indiana has a soft top like this or the fast back style that I could take a look at in person and make soem notes? Any other pics anyone has would be great as well. Thanks again Copasetic.
 
I've called around out in Arizona. A couple of places said they use conduit like you find at Home Depot for the frame. A boat supply place or RV place may have frame parts as well. Once you have a frame fabbed up that you want, shop around for an upholstry place that will make a top to your specs for a good price.

I found prices for a couple of hundred if you come in with a frame already done and fitted to the truck to over a grand for a "custom" top.
 
Thanks AZ. We have an industrial sewing machine like the upholstery shops have and I can get vinyl from our sign suppliers so I am thinking if I can get some measurements and such I can reproduce something. I was thinking conduit from a hardware store myself as the bracing.
 
My STC Fast Track uses Conduit as the frame.... They didn't even take the stickers off the Conduit. :D

I know the nuts are made to slide front to back a little in a retainer track. If the track is bent you might be able to bend it back into shape to hold the nuts correctly. I did this on one of mine several years ago. Another thing would be to reattach the top and then tack weld the nut into place. I think they are made to slide for the variances from the factory.
