I'd like to run a soft top this summer, every time I've found one, the company either discontinued them, or has gone OOB.

anyone know where to get any? or have you just made your own.

the one I'm looking for is the link below with roll up sides.

and out of curiosity, I'd like to know what year tops would fit my 79 jimmy, I'd like to drop a K5 top with the sliding windows that have the wing windows, I remember my dads had that top and I loved it.

If you were closer I have a set of those windows. However, I don't recommend them, they leak really bad.

As to the top you listed, they are no longer made. You can try e-bay to find one, or craigslist. Somewhere here was a thread about a newer manufacturer that actually is making soft tops. I am trying to find the link to give you.

I know at least one member here has purchased this top so it is available.

Thanks lectric, if they really leak, then I'll stick with my current, I just got done with fighting with my sunroof on my probe GT, HORROR STORY, irrelevant I know, but I don't need another re-hash, had to sell the vehicle due to it, too much mold for me to remove.

Unfortunately the sliding side windows always leak, and it doesn't appear that anyone makes a quality replacement felt seal for the slider itself. I actually found me a top off a newer K5 that had solid tinted windows, then left my top sitting on the ground. I still have it, with it's sliding windows and wings intact, but I don't intend to ever use those windows again. I really wanted them, until the first time I washed Krusty and learned how bad they are.

I emailed the Softopper guys last week... and they returned a few days later with answers to my questions. Hopefully I can get one for my 74 some time this summer. The company and the product seems nice enough. I'll put the links in the thread so we don't have to go back and forth to different threads.

Guess nobody goes to our CK5 home page anymore. softtopper.com has an add up for their tops on CK5 home.

There's a home page?

Actually my Chrome and Firefox ad blockers cut most of that out.

LOL. I usually go straight to the forums too. Easy to forget there is a home page. But i check out home to see the BOM ans usually click on a few adds there to help generate a little extra revenue for the site. Your blockers should not block the add. it is text only with a link in the center text block

I've got sliding windows on mine, and never had an issue with them leaking.

Well, except for the time a friend of mine left it open and I got a foot of snow on my back seat:doah::haha:

best damn investment i ever made besides buying the blazer from arizona!!

I'm done waiting on Canback to get around to making them again. Been getting the same crap for 2 years. I don't want a folding soft top because I want a frame that can hold some weight. I am getting a decent tax return and am gonna start on building a frame pretty soon. Sometimes you just gotta do it yourself *sigh*

yeah i had thought about doing that too and putting a couple of jeep bikini top together but the money was there and i had gotten a phone call from them saying they got some material and were getting rite on it? still took 2 1/2 months b4 i saw the ups guy??

Wait... what? explain?

explain what? how to take two kini tops and make one or the part about my top being made? that was almost 4 years ago?

if you can afford the top that softopper makes i would get it? i love the idea of a screen in the back window they offer?

I was looking at the back screen. Great idea but for me it's probably not the best. With the back window down on gravel roads, it's like Pigpen's dust cloud in there.

There's an easy fix for that, open the wing windows on the front doors and most of the dust blows out of the truck. Anytime I am on a dusty road I run the rear window open and the wings up front cracked. The airflow is steady and blows 90% of the dust out the back. Close the wings and at the end of the ride I feel like I have 10 pounds of mud in my mouth.
