I’ve been thinking about getting a soft top is it worth it and if it is any one have recommendations on a top that under 500$

Finding one in that price range may be rough. And if you ever plan on driving in winter you may want to keep the hard top in storage.

As for which one to get :dunno:.

Softtopper is the only brand actively making soft tops for Blazers, price is +/- $1000. I agree with @shady, for $500 it'll be used and as with any used soft top look at it closely for stitching / zipper / stain issues.

I just installed a softopper on my '90 K5. It is very high quality. It is actually so nice I see no way they could produce it cheaper. Hardware is all top notch. The fabric and stitching is flawless.

Ok thanks I’ll look into the soft topper and I’d only have the soft top on in the summer

There is a piece of weatherstrip that seals the front of the header bar to the cab. I have not confirmed if the hardtop still fits with the weatherstrip still on. Everything else bolts on with factory holes and will be removable for winter hard top installation. Worst case is you would need to remove the weatherstrip and install a new piece for soft top weather.

Kayline, Besttop, Softtopper,

I got ahold of an old Kayline full top for mine then went and had a new one made by an upholstery shop, changed some mounting since my cage is above the windshield. Not as expensive as a new one. I was seeing $600 and up for new ones when I was looking and my full top was 3 and some change. Places that do boat covers and tops are also good to check.

My hard top won't be going back on my rig and I'm in snow county.
Me too, half the reason I went to the soft top was to get rid of the power rear window. I have a pickup tailgate now and don't plan on going back to the hardtop if I can avoid it. Might throw a car cover on when I am not using the truck.

I held of on the soft top for a while thinking it wasn't worth the money. Broke the back window so I figured I'll get the top instead of a window and got a truck gate. I couldn't be happier.

I like my soft top, its just beat these days...ive had it since the first batch. Im going to get another one.

I bought my Softopper thinking I would put the shell back on in winter, I will never put it back on. Of course I’m in Alabama so winters aren’t as bad as you guys get. I am fortunate enough to have a garage to park my truck in so if the weather isn’t suitable I just drive my other vehicle.
The Blazer rides, drives, and handles way better with the soft top.
With all the sides up and windows rolled down there’s nowhere near the wind turbulence you get in a normal vehicle with windows down. I actually run the air and listen to the radio with all sides open.

Softopper was the best thing I did to my old M1009. I drove with it on through 2 Chicago winters and it wasn't that bad at all

I had mine for years and never put back my hard top.
Now I have a k5 with the soft top and I don't have a hard top.
I have no covered parking for it but I have plenty of regular vehicles so I don't have to worry about driving it in bad weather.
