SofTopper Installation Help Needed

Seeing a historic/antique plate on a K5 makes me feel even more like a boomer... :) Nice K5.

Ha Ha that’s hilarious & crazy all at the same time. I was born in 80’ in Boulder, CO. Of course everyone drove Blazers, Broncos & Subarus ha ha. When I found this 85’ I jumped quick. I wanted an 80’ cause of my DOB but this one was manufactured the year my wife was born so that’s pretty cool too I didn’t realize 85’ was a classic until I did some research. I was equally blown away how fast time has gone by but excited that I’d be able to get a classic plate on the lady Take Care... you’re still a spring chicken

A truck tail gate fits right in place of the K5 gate and the hinges bolt right in. Saves quite a bit of weight and to me is easier to open and close.
Gotcha thanks!! Are they pretty easy to find? I personally kind of love the weight of the tailgate. Sounds a bit weird but just another reason why I bought the truck.... just brings me back to childhood ya know. Heavy tailgates and manual locks and windows My Trail Boss has a light tailgate so I’ll get a break with that one

Hey guy's,

Thought I'd share a couple images of my SofTopper. Just wrapped it up today! Man..... I really am in love with this thing. So much fun to drive with it up, especially now with the weather cooling off a bit. Have those butterflies we've all experienced when I'm on the road

Take Care!

Make sure the top has been sitting in the sun for a bit, it makes it a bit more pliable. I started to snap mine at the top and worked down to the edges. The bottom snaps are a bit hard but you can pull down a bit to get them to snap at least.

The only downside for me is the ease the soft top lends itself to theft of the truck.
Yeah for sure I totally get that. Fortunately for me, I'm just gonna be cruising in it mostly. Not leaving it out that often. I did go camping in it a few weeks ago. Had to grab some groceries in a bit of a sketch part of town. I was stressing out the whole time I was in the store. Thankfully nothing happened.

Dang.... just getting to this. Disappeared for a bit. Looks like you got it on, otherwise I would have had some tips for ya. Gonna check out the pictures here

I got one for mine but never got it installed this year. How do these things do in the winter months compared to the stock top? Debating on whether its worth it to just get rid of the fiberglass top altogether.
Top and truck look great btw!!
