so im thinking about getting a soft top instead of putting my hard top back on once the weather gets real cold (not that it’s ever so bad here in Texas). And was wondering if I did go with the soft topper do I still need the weather seals? My truck currently doesn’t have any as they were all dry rotted and fell apart the first time I took off my top a few months ago. Also anyone got some pictures of their soft top?

The softopper comes with a new seal for the back of the cab and the rails have a foam seal under them. The factory seals are not needed for the softopper kit. I really like mine and do not plan on going back to a hardtop since I also did the truck tailgate conversion. Last winter here in Wyoming I was fine with the softopper but the truck is not a daily driver. I think in your climate you will be just fine.

Agree

Did y’all sell your hard top? I was thinking about selling mine to offset the cost as they seem easy to find if I ever want another one again. I got the truck to have the top down all the time so I don’t see myself ever needing it again.

I did, I dont drive my K5 in the winter alot but the times I have theres been no issue with heat retention so I really have no reason to go back to the hard top

Here you can't sell them, sometimes you need to beg someone to take them, then when you need one, suddenly people want a fortune for them.
The only time I sold one it had sliding windows and I sold it cheap with the doors and the cab upper part for someone to replace it.

I love the soft toppers top , A friend of mine has one for a 77K5 it was so simple to install next month I’ll have the cash on pulling the trigger thanks for the conversation

I cut my hard top up to make a hard bimini top. Best of both worlds. I saved a $1000 and have an open air top.

I was just curious how much you sold your top for ,I’m going to sell mine after buying the soft topper and the tailgate with the glass

I’m with you on that storing the hard top is a pain in the butt but I know if I get rid of it I’ll regret it at some point thanks again have a good one

Threw away my solid window, roof rack holes hardtop.
Bought a sliding window good hardtop for $100
Replaced with a soft top
Sold hard top for $100

I’ve been DD’n mine most of the summer this year.
Last week my weather bug lied and I got caught in thunderstorms all day.
The first one hit on my way to work and was pretty heavy.
Before I even had time to pull over and roll the window up I noticed there wasn’t any water coming in.
With the sides rolled up and windows down I drove in fairly heavy rainstorms 3 times and almost no rain came into the interior.
