1972 Suburban C20 (3/4 Ton)

  • CA Truck.... 85,000 original miles
  • 350/350
  • Factory Tow Package
  • Dealer installed 50 gallon fuel tank
  • Front and Rear A/C
  • 3 rows of seats
  • Tailgate style rear, not barndoor
  • Two-Tone Green/White
  • All exterior factory trim intact
  • All interior panels and trim intact
  • No rust in footwells (see photo)
Underside of truck is insanely well-preserved and rust-free. This truck has been stored each winter in a climate controlled garage and never driven in snow or salt.

This truck is an unmolested survivor from CA, the original owner used it to tow his boat to the lake each summer and logged only 60,000 miles on it during those first 30 years. The second owner sold me the truck after owning it for about a year, when he took a job relocation. I've owned it since 2003.

The truck does need some attention in a few areas, but it a remarkably solid foundation to start from. Anyone who has bought a rusty example already knows how expensive rust repair can be.

There is a small bit of rust just behind the rear PS wheel opening on the outer quarter panel, and there is a small hole at the bottom of the spare tire well. These are both minor issues...the view of the footwells and underside on a lift will confirm that the truck is VERY solid, original and untouched.

There is a body mount missing on one side, the rear tailgate rattles more than it should (I have new weatherstrips for the tailgate and hatch to resolve it) and the front seat has been recovered in a non-matching vinyl. The rear two seats have original fabric, so it should be easy to find the matching pattern. The truck came with embossed factory rubber mats throughout. They are a bit tender now, but they are complete.

The A/C was rebuilt by the previous owner, but the compressor seized last summer so it will need some attention before it can be run again.

The fuel sender wire is either disconnected or broken, so the tank always reads "F" even when empty!

I've towed with this truck to Moab, UT and back, and it towed the same load (in photos) all the way from CA to NH without issue. It's been a terrifically useful vehicle for hauling plywood, drywall and long 2x4s....

Please feel free to contact me with questions or more photos of anything specific.

And just for fun...here's a video clip from a Dyno day that we did a while back:

Greg, I thought you decided to keep the burb? Did Kelly tell you it is now time for it to go. :haha: Ok, maybe not Kelly's doings but a guess that this will become blazer funds so you can keep posting on the "might as well" thread?

For anyone that doesn't believe how clean this burb is, I was with Greg when he bought this burb and it is CLEAN. It's so clean that it's doubtful anyone will ever find another this clean for a long time. :deal:

Now, BTT for ya Greg.

It's getting hard finding the storage space, time and money to keep 4 vehicles going at one time. Right now I've got an enormous money sink-hole on jackstands in my garage, and if I ever want to get that one finished I need to sharpen my focus even more than I have thus far.

The Suburban was a lot more important when I owned a trailer, and was towing the K5 to offroad events... but the trailer is long gone, and the K5 will be a great highway-capable truck that won't need a support vehicle to get to Moab, or Rausch Creek or wherever.

I'm sure the $$$ money will come in handy as well for the "Might As Well" build, as there are still a few big ticket items left to purchase. I feel that I've priced it fairly..... but as always, money talks. :deal:

For now, I'm planning to keep both of the motors you've built for me (the 496BBC and 502BBC).... I'm trying not to be hasty and make too many big selling decisions in the short-term that I may end up regretting later on.

:usaflag:

Free bump. Sweet burb, the $$ should score you some nice parts for the K5. First thing I thought when I saw this was, "what about the 496?!?!" until I saw your last post.

That is a beautiful truck, not going to find another like that around here. Good luck with the sale.
