Re: Sold my 83 Blazer to get this one... whatcha think?

I like your wheel and tire combo!!/forums/images/icons/wink.gif (I've gto the same ones) Did you do the fender trimming to it? Or did it come that way? Looks good.

BTW are you running your tires backwards or am I?

Re: Sold my 83 Blazer to get this one... whatcha think?

No price is too great and no sacrifice is too big to be able to say you own a chevy K-30. I'd like to know your lift and tire combo too. I just painted my tonner and i'd post it if I could finger out how.

Re: Sold my 83 Blazer to get this one... whatcha think?

The truck came with the fender's being cut.. the previous owner had big plans for the truck..
He took a M1009 Chassis from a surplus vehicle and put a Chevy Big 10 cab and bed on the chassis. So it's registered as a 2wd truck.. (all legal) He contacted motor vehicles and told them what he was doing.. with the chassis and cab.. so He asked which VIN does he use to register.. they told him the one on the cab. Now I don't have to pay the high 1-ton registration fee's.
He installed the American Racing AR 767's 16.5 inch rims.. and 5 Brand new Hummer 37 inch tires.. even the spare is brand new.
Dana 60 front w/ trakloc
14 Bolt Rear w/ Detroit locker.
4.56 gears
208 Tcase
th400 Tranny.
Stock crate Goodwrench 350 w/ new quadrajet

This truck is ugly on the outside.. but I'm happy with the drivetrain setup..
Thanks for all the good comments..

David.. should have dressed better? lol... Geez.. you had to get dirty looking the truck over.. lol..

Esteban.. I talked to Terry.. the guy I purchased the truck from and he said.. he thought they were directional, but directional tires alway's have arrow's indicating direction of rotation.. he was unsure himself so he asked his Rockcrawling friends in Las Cruces.. they run them the way he mounted them on my truck.. he said they grab better on the rocks.. and the outer lug's clean mud out better.
As for highway ride.. I'm very happy with them.. at 70 plus miles.. they handle nice, and aren't too loud.
Also.. on Fort Hood.. I've noticed them mounted all kind's of way's.. no set way I guess..

Re: Sold my 83 Blazer to get this one... whatcha think?

they told me on the pirate boards that the direction is supposed to be pointed down, but that makes sence about pointing them the other way

Re: Sold my 83 Blazer to get this one... whatcha think?

Well I've had good results with mine running the other way so I guess it doesn't really matter which way they mount. /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

And as far as them mounted on the hummers, what I've heard is that they mount them anyway they go on. This way no body can tell which way a vehicle is going by it's tracks. I don't know if it's true, but it makes sense.

Corby..
Yep.. she'll be at the Slab.. And if I can figure out what's wrong with my 89... it'll be out there to..

I gotta try this pickup out off road.. I bet it'll be a beast..
Nothing like the sound of a Detroit chirping when I take a turn and touch the gas.. I can only imagine what the Detroit will do for me off-road.

Re: Sold my 83 Blazer to get this one... whatcha think?

All of the Goodyear MT's are dirrectional exept the 37X12.50X16.5 used on the HMMWV. They are supposed to have one side mounted one direction and the other side opposite. the reason for this is so that when someone sees the tracks left by the vehicle it can't be told by the tread marks what direction the vehicle was travelling. All military vehicles(except CUCV) have tires set up like this.

Re: Sold my 83 Blazer to get this one... whatcha think?

Thanks Desertrat67..
These are HMMWV tires mounted on the truck..
Really appreciate the clarification..
So.. guess you're at Fort Bliss?
Tacoma aka Cassidy and myself are Stationed at Fort Hood.
