Sold my Blazer

I would love to build a hot rod. A sleeper like we've talked about before. I would put almost no money into the body, interior, but build an insane drivetrain. BIG HP and TQ.

it just ain't in me anymore.

sorry to hear that......

I've contemplated giving up on the whole 4x4 thing and build a hotrod....I've got a bunch of engines and transmissions laying around....and the time spent wheeling vs. working/building them is way out of proportion......:(

Problem is I'm a big guy and I don't fit into most small hot rod type cars....
Years back I stuffed a small block in a LUV truck and it was a screamer....but it
was a truck..not a car.... in fact other than a DD or two,, I've never owned a car.
Right now I have 4 - 4x4's..... and my G/F's DD is a Toyota Venza.

I think the only practical thing I would ever give up 4x4's for would be like a 68 chevy short cab with a blown big block..... :D

I guess I'm just not a "car " guy....:dunno:

not to mention the fact that most of the good cars now adays are stupid bank even if its a pos just for the vin.
where you can still get decent trucks to play with for only a few grand.

right, guys want 10 g's for a basketcase Challenger these days, let alone a Cuda..

that's why I'm pretty certain when I do my Willy's next, I'll just go glass body with a tube chassis...

After the new Gone In 60 Seconds came out I seen a GT500 Stang at a body shop totally rusted out, wrecked and no motor or trans and the guy had just bought it for 10k. And I will give 3 guesses as to which paint scheme he went with...... But, the car did look sharp when it was done I will admit.

The cost of ****boxes makes the new repro bodies look reasonable.

I will say though, if you keep your eyes open and have the cash, there's alot of good deals to be had.

The guy at freightliner that worked on my truck, was looking for a 69 chevelle SS builder. I found him a rust free, unmolested driver. He paid 6k. 1K of that was my finders fee.:woot:

I guess the main thing is figure out what you want. If you want a t-bucket go searching. But if you spend the next XX amount of time working on it, and not enjoying it...

I've gone through that over the years with my K5s. Finally ended up with this one, I don't do crap to it, it's all stock. My 'big plans' aren't important, I just drive and play with it. And since I'm actually out on the trails often, I've had the most fun with it. It's not lifted, I don't have huge tires, but a stock Blazer can do a hell of a lot, and I can still find butt-puckering situations to get myself into to keep it fun and fresh.

Figure out what you want to do, and find a vehicle to match. And also, if you want to fill that 4x4 void, go get a quad. I've wanted one for years and finally got one the other month, it's been great. This summer I haven't taken the Blazer out because it's been nasty hot and humid, no ac, top off, bare floor pans, and crawling doesn't exactly provide airflow. But soon when it cools down I'll be going back out with the Blazer. At the same time I've been incredibly lucky not to break anything, and over the years I've been slowly getting sick of wrenching broken parts. A quad doesn't break nearly as much, and it's sure easier to work on.

If what you want is something nice and fun to drive, t-bucket sounds like a good idea. But like I said, if you spend the next few months... years wrenching and not enjoying. I think that's what happens to a lot of us.
