Worked like a champ for a while, but I'm switching to TBI so I don't need it anymore. It's got new seals on it as well.

Edit: new price $50 shipped.

750 cfm. It's a carter quadrajet and has a sticker on the back that says it's been remanufactured by Holley. I can post a picture later tonight.

I'll post pics tonight, but it uses the early choke model with the heated coil in the intake manifold (no electric choke). I have the coil and even the intake for it if someone's interested in those.

Here's a few pictures. The carb number is 4850 which lists as a 69 GM truck. I don't know that much about carbs, but the secondaries appear to be vaccum since they don't open just with the mechanical linkage.

This may be the wrong place to ask but how can I tell if this will work on my motor? How do I tell if I have vacuum or electric choke or any of the other differences?

If you look at your existing carburator, does it have an electrical wire hooked up to a little diaphram looking thing right near the choke lever? If it does, you probably have an electric choke. I'm not sure what the rules are if you have to stay smog legal, but you want to be careful what you change. The type of choke isn't like to be a problem if it's not listed on the smog sticker in your engine compartment.

This carb uses a heat operated choke (like most earlier trucks). There should be a little rod that goes down in to a tiny metal shroud right below it where it's screwed onto the intake manifold.

If needed, the edelbrock performer RPM manifold (I think it's 2101 for 1986 and earlier) have a little plate that bolts to the intake manifold for heat operated chokes, and I'll even throw in the choke element.

Do you still have it?

Do you still have this and will it bolt up to a stock 84 K5 manifold? I have the computer controled Q-jet and its giving me problems. Was a CA truck but now I am in GA where they dont smog so I am getting rid of all the extra crap that was put on the mid 80s trucks. Let me know if you think it will work and if you still have it. Also, how much?

If it's a spreadbore manifold it should bolt up. I don't know anything about the computer controlled carbs, but as long as the computer doesn't care if it's hooked up to anything I assume it'd be ok.

Still asking $50 shipped for it. Any less and it's just easier to store it for later use.

Correct , it bolts up and works fine . Though he will have no choke , 84 was electric choke , and the intake does not have a provision for bolting on the little thingy .

A little dissassembly of both linkages , and maybe his choke will fit on it :D

When you remove a computer carb , you should also remove the distributor and run a regular HEI .

If someone wants both, I'll throw in the large cap HEI distributer, cap, and rotor in the box for free. The shipping is expensive these days.

I`m interested. Who makes the dizzy you have?

Let me look to see if there`s a way to hook up the heat choke on a vortec carb intake.

Is there a way to swap from heat operated choke, to a manual or electric choke? Having trouble finding any good info...
