i have a WARN 8274 with 80' of brand new steel cable (not on winch), new roller fairlead, and remote. works good, free spool sticks here and there but still powers out.

I have one and the free spool knob gets sticky in the bolt on housing . mine is frozen in the locked position .

there a simple design to work on and modify .

Ya like K30 said, they just get sticky in there. It is 12 volt

How easy is it to fix the sticky free spool?
Does it just need a good cleaning?
My experience with winches is limited to ATV winches, and a sticky free spool is a PITA at best.
I may be interested if there is an easy remedy.
