I've been looking at this tranny on craigslist for a while but just not sure what I'm doing on my K5 build . . . . .I like manual and wife wants auto so she can drive to. . . . .

Yeah, I hear ya on that. My wife can't drive stick either but I have had too many autos crap out on me over the years. I thought about it like you and decided that I am putting the same tranny in my 77 K5 behind a 5.3 for three reasons. One, I want something that is going to last and hold up to big tires and higher horsepower without breaking the bank. Two, the stupid low granny gear significantly increases your crawl ratio for offroad. Three, manual transmissions are nostalgic and fun to drive. Nuff said.

Let me know if you decide you want this.

Are you sure this is from a square-body? That looks like a bell housing from a GMT400 truck (clutch slave is on the wrong side of the bellhousing for a square-body).

:dunno:

From original post:

This is a 32 spline output SM465 4 speed manual transmission with the granny low first gear and hydraulic bell housing out of a late 80s 1 ton truck.

Came from an 88 up 1 ton where the bell housing is setup like an NV4500
