Since you struggled to get these in, did you bend them at all? I'm wondering if they would actually fit better than new ones. Did you notch anything on the truck?

i did clearance the frame on the passanger side and dinged on a tube to get past the crossmember on the passenger side

Any idea what's different between the $119 77-84 headers and the $97 84-91 headers?

I've been thinking to grab some of these and wonder if your mods will save me time over a new pair (with shipping the new pair might cost less). Not keen on notching the frame, but would have to look at it and see if brand new motor mounts help at all.

sad but probably cheaper to order new , i dont know what the difference is if any they use the same pic for both.
if i were you would get summits version might cost more but would fit

The Summit stainless is $327. Don't want to spend that when LS swaps are so tempting, but their mild steel is $135 and might be an easier path. My last set of mild steel has been on at least a dozen years.

Yes, mine is 1985 Jimmy. In terms of headers the configuration is pretty much stock, but dual exhaust.
