can't beat Weller imo...

i bought a Weller D550 awhile back, love it...

I've had really good luck with the butane powered irons. I have a Bluepoint one from the Snap on truck and a Master appliance one that I use at home. No cords to mess with and one fill lasts for several hours. Gotta be careful where you lay it down tho.

You must also be careful where you put your arm after putting the iron down.

To this day I have a scar on the underside of one arm, after forgetting where the iron was ... when I was like 14 :doah:

Weird thing was that it didn't hurt ... musta burned through the nerve layer right off. Smelled horrible though, and left this big white waxy stripe on my arm for weeks :eek:

I have no idea who makes a good soldering iron but for a soldering gun there is nothing better than a Weller IMO. I have the same Weller gun that Ryoken posted above and love it.
