solid axle questions

apparently you can use the rear spring front hangers from 73-87 trucks on the inside of the frame as the front spring rear hangers for the sas, and use stock 73-87 front spring front hangers at the front. this should give you the correct 31.5" spring spacing for GM axles, (also 78-79 ford axles) to use for the swap.

If you wanted other options than buying a kit.
 
thanks for the helpful info. Some one told me that ford's spring plates were at 32.5", but that could be wrong. Thanks for the helpful info.

Your right, 32.5 77-78 and 36 all the rest. DONT RUN 36" spring center, the tires will rubb!!!!!!!!!111

77-79, the 60 in my barn is a 79 ;)
 
ok, cool. I've been searching for a good pic of the shackle hanger, its design, how and where its mounted. If any has pictures of this can i see them please. Thanks for the help.

Yea, i'm gonna search there for 2wd to 4wd conversions too. see what i can find, and if i find any useful stuff i'll post it up here.
 
If any one could find any info and pictures on a 2wd to 4wd conversion with the solid axle would be awesome. I thought i have seen it done before but i dont remember. Thanks.

Im about to do this to my 88 2wd C30, just gotta clean old junk out of the way first, ill be sure to take lots of pics of all the :grind: :hack: :weld: ....

awesome man, i went searching on the pirate forum, and a guy under the name of Pdaddy did a 2wd to solid swap, you mite wanna check it out.
