Hello, i would appreciate any help i can get. Rear axel is on a 76 blazer. I have never seen one like this. I burned up a wheel bearing and the drum brake. I am having issues removing the axels. I looked but did not see a C clip in the center of the differential after removing the pin. Did i not look close enough? Does anyone know if this is a Possi traction if so what kind?

Lock right is one of the companies, the springs that you see in the windows put pressure on pins that lock the two halves together. The two halves have teeth that ratchet when you turn corners. The c-clips sit in a machined groove.

Not trying to be negative but those are known for putting so much pressure on the center pin and wallering out the hole in the open carrier which will eventually cause issues.
Try and think of them as a short term solution for added traction with plans to address with better options in the future.

Just trying to give a heads up so you can plan ahead and not get caught off guard.

Thank all of you... I appreciate it. I'll keep the short term in mind.. thanks again. I just got impatient freezing my ass off in the Wyoming wind. Not too mention I'm worrying on the ground at the moment.

I’ve ran a lot of those lockers over the years and never had an issue, but a lot of it depends on the case you’re putting it in. Mine have always been in Dana 60s and 44s. I sure wouldn’t put one in a 10 bolt. The strength of the locker basically relies on the strength of the case.

Mine is a Dana 44. I don't run her much, mainly for hunting etc. I'll give her some more tlc. When I get my shop finished.

12 bolt was my thought as well, is this front or rear?
Gotta be rear for that pic and no doubt it’s a 12-bolt.

But if the front axle is original to his truck it would have come with a D44 front in 1976.

That’s why I was thinking maybe it was in his front axle but you’re right now that I study it harder, it’s a rear .

And someone's been in there already with a pinion shaft they couldn't remove? Those marks from someone realizing that pin was too hard for them to drill out to remove? The cross screw looks fairly abused too.

Or they didn't realize you had to remove the cross bolt so they were pounding with a punch? Is it just me or is the top of the pin missing? In pic #3 it looks like there is no center pin, yet there is obviously one in there from the other pics.

The the lunch-locker parts are rotated within the carrier which means the pin was already removed for that to be possible.
Pic #1 shows the retaining bolt head and #2 shows both pin and retaining bolt all aligned as they should be but the pin and bolt were removed for the inerd’s to stay put while the carrier and crown rotated up or down 90 degrees in pic #3.

Duh..disregard me!
Ahhh, easy to miss when ya are concentrating on trying to pinpoint a specific problem - sometimes the mind will get tunnel vision and narrow the focus on just one area instead of the complete canvas.
