Some pics of what I did today...damn those things are heavy

How about some measurements from the d70 compared to the 14 bolt?

Well, the cage started as just a factory bar and I built the rest myself...it just started out as 6 10' sticks of straight tubing. It works, I rolled it about a month ago. Good thing I built the cage 2 months ago!
I haven't measured anything on the 70 compared to the 14bolt yet except for the spring perches, which need to be moved... and the axle tube, which is WAY bigger. Seems to be about 4". The brakes are HUGE and make my 14bolt look like a 1/2 ton axle /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

As far as cutting up the crew cab, the only thing I cut up was I torched off the front bumper brackets and the trailer hitch. If someone wanted to put it back together, its all there (except the axles... /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif) and could be built again... it is just not something that I wanted to do. I would rather build my Bitch w/ the 1ton gear! But you know, to each his own...whatever blows your skirt up...

Damn I could have given you a hand with the swap.
I always have time to hook up a fellow K5 chop Dr.

I have an 89 3+3 v30 4x4 for sale & no one wants to give anything for it,
yet everyone gets mad if you cut it up.

These days if you are in the market for one now is the time to jump on it.
I was just lookin in a truck trader lookin for a CC 4x4 and they are going for dirt cheap. 6-8 months ago and they were a few thousand $$ more.
It seems if it has a BBC in it good luck gettin rid of it.
I have seen alot lately that the price just keeps gettin lower and lower.
That's why I figured I would part out the 73 and be able to get rid of it.
Now I just have a rig in peices that no one wants to give anything for.
I figured that at least the cab which has some surface rust but nothing major, would sell in a flash. Nope....
So it looks like I will sell the rear axle, keep the clip, doors, tailgate and the rear suspension, bag the 463 and send the rest to the scrap yard.

Oh the swap ain't done yet! I just have the axles pulled! I have to get spring perches on the D70 because the factory ones are in the wrong spot. Up front I have to swap in the 52's and do all of that jazz before I can put the axle in, then I have to get some $$ to buy all the hi-steer stuff before I can put it together!

Poohbair, just curious what tires, rims and gears are you going to run? Since they're both Dana's are you going really deep on gear?

For now I am just going to leave the 4.56's in there, weld up the D70 and call it good. I am going to run stock Hummer rims w/ my 38's for right now, the step up to 39.5's or 42's next time I buy tires.

Sweet, I'll be running a similar set up myself. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

well not completely exact on the 14 bolt but I do know that the 70 is 4" wider than the 60 wms to wms.

I just run 4 1/2" backspacing on the front and 6 1/2" on the rear. /forums/images/graemlins/hack.gif
