Some progress (dovetailed)

I was able to sneak in a little work today, hopefully tomorrow I will get some more and finish up the doubler crossmember. I'll snap a pic when it's done so you can see it out of the truck. Basically it hangs 3" below the frame, most of the tube is 1.5"x1.5"x.25" wall tube. The rear most piece is 2"x2"x.25" wall because I ran out of the other stuff and had that around. I plan on a skid under the whole crossmember. Hopefully it will work out good!

Got the crossmember primed up, will be ready to go in after some paint. Also started on my new front spring hangers, got the rough cuts done now I need to clean up the edges and prep for welding. Using some 6" channel and DIY spring hangers. Hope to incorporate a hidden winch at a later date.

Good so far. They are 14" travel, set up for about 5 3/4"up and the rest down travel. Ride good on the street and feel good on the trail. So I'd say they work good. By the way I'm in the same boat: "I NEED A 1 BEDROOM HOUSE WITH A 64 CAR GARAGE
."

Just read through the whole thread again and RudyO had said that I would love my seats, yes the PRP's are AWESOME! And everybody who has ridden in my truck has commented on how comfy they are. Great investment.

Planning a trip to Hollister on the 29th with some buddys in heeps. Anybody else want to go meet up there and wheel some trails? I need to get some testing in before the Rubicon next month....

Wheeling pics

Went out to Hollister Hills yesterday. Time to test out the new Doubler and front LockRight. Both are awesome! The doubler is amazing. Front LockRight work like a champ also. I only took a few poser shots, my buddy was using his camera so I'll try and get those. Managed to twist my brand new rear driveline in half, time to go back to the shop who said "you can jack up your truck from this driveline, it's strong" and receipt stated HEAVY DUTY rear driveline and have him retube it with something thicker than this exhaust tubing he used, haha. I'm sure once he sees this he will know what to use, what thickness material do you guys that wheel hard have for your drivelines? This was early in the morning and I wheeled some crazy stuff all day in front wheel drive, hung with the Jeeps at least :D. My tires are at 3PSI, front driver looks flat in first pic but it just on a rock. Also threw in a pic of my buddies TJ with a long arm kit and 37's.

No kidding. That shaft looks like it's made from sheet metal.

What are the specs for the front D60 caster angle and where do you check it from? Top of high steer arms ok? I think I need to bring my pinion angle up some and want to make it right. Looking at some other rigs this weekend really got me thinking about this.

Just got back from the driveline shop, the owner was impressed to say the least. This one was .085 wall, he's going to build me a new one from .095 wall for day to day use and one from .25 for wheelin, rock on!

It seems counter-intuitive, but a smaller diameter tube is actually more impervious to denting than a larger diameter one.

Going with a thicker-walled material is a good start, but using a smaller overall diameter may pay off in better durability too.

Thanks for the info Greg, I'll talk to the driveline guy about that.

So is 3-6* of caster what I should be shooting for? Found that number doing some web wheeling so I'll check mine out when I get home.

What do you guys think about using an EZ inch to relocate an axle and shims to rotate. Talked to Kert today and he said that since it's all bolted together it's not technically stacking so he would do it. I probably will just thought I'd throw it out there.

Do you think yours might be out of spec or just trying to rotate the pinion up out of the way and still keep the castor within spec?

School started last week and progress came to a slow crawl. I haven't touched the truck since tearing that last shaft up. That one got retubed last week and tomorrow I am picking up my "rock shaft", it is 1/4" thick and smaller diameter like Greg suggested. Ordered up some 6deg shims from WFO Concepts and should be wheeling on Saturday. Can't wait!

Wheeling!!!

Some pics from Hollister Hills today. I had a blast. My buddy flopped his Jeep. Also, the guy in the Tacoma rolled hard right by the obstacle course and a passenger had to be air lifted out. They said he was ok but did get knocked out during the roll.
